At every AMA and town hall in the coming weeks, leaders should be asked what is being done to prevent something like this from happening again. Of course they will provide a canned non-answer (if they address the question at all), but it's important to let them know they've struck a chord with employees. It would also be effective to comment in the free-form box (if there is one) of the employee survey that there are controls to monitor and enforce the 3 days in the office rule, but nothing to detect whether an employee doesn't leave as expected and, as a result, might be in trouble.
