If you haven’t seen already - the Intel folks on layoff are talking about major layoffs and also splitting up the company
This would make the situation in Portland even worse - major loss of talent and difficult to compete for local area jobs, esp with remote work decreasing . Will impact tech jobs a lot but also others…..
Portland is not a good place for opportunity
Yeah as someone who was laid off in February, I saw the Intel news and upped my job search efforts. My goal was to get a new job before all the Intel folks hit the market. Thankfully I was successful, but I know a lot of ex-Nike people still looking. It's a rough market in Portland, and with many companies not allowing remote work anymore, it really limits the opportunities if you're stuck in Portland.
