Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Is it over (for now, at least)?

Or can we expect more layoffs throughout the week?

2 weeks from now we will know, plan is the higher grade expats first, higher packages will be hit. This will be just before the long weekend. That's how it will go down.

They are not Asian passports, they are Americans. Just cheaper and less skilled ones.

So anyone knows what is the end goal and timeframe? Is it to replace all western expats with Asian passports? Is it to get rid of all expats alltogether?

It will impact all nationalities beginning with the low hanging fruit who are the recipients of an M, PMP. Followed later by loaded expense (salary, number of dependents, EAP, annual flights home etc) employees in ranking order.

Expect it to be in continuous but periodic drips and drabs so as not to overload the departure clearance system as was the case with COVID. Just because an initial purge occurs in your department, do not be lulled into the false sense that it is over, there will be multiple rounds.

So I guess they learned their lesson from the last purge. HR was a royal mess. I would receive calls every day from at least 5 different people asking the same question about my travel plans.

It's just started. Less than 25% finished.
