Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Corporate: 2 people is NOT a crew.

That is all. Stores need to be staffed properly because two people is not a crew. And if you’re going to continue this route of hours cuts and no staff, then at least PLEASE have mirror hours with the RX. Give the front store a break would you.

And corporate loves self checkout to use them to cut more hours and staff.

Thieves love self checkout. Steps from the door and nothing to stop them from scanning one cheap item and leaving with hundreds of dollars worth. If they even bother to check out at all. This company is going down the drain.

A lot of people don’t like self checkout. If they decide to shop elsewhere...

The issue with getting rid of the front store is people still need personal products like toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc. Now people say margin on FS products isn't great, so CVS isn't losing much with people getting personal products elsewhere. But front store stuff does draw people into the store. Without that, what happens when people can get their RX cheaper somewhere else?

@deb+1ubplekl Yeah that seems to be the direction they are heading. I don't agree with that idea because I still think there's value in the FS. Besides if anything ever happens with PBM reforms, I don't think CVS could survive on an RX model only.

CVS would dump retail in a heartbeat if they could somehow keep the pharmacy portion open without front of store.

@vrk+1ubplekl Well of course they don’t inconvenience the thieves. The thieves are CVS best customers these days.

Interesting. They only people they don't inconvenience are the thieves.

Four months ago the bathrooms in our store are locked due to theft. We have to walk the customers to the bathroom. Some days there are lot of customers that have to use the bathroom. However, that has not stopped customers from stealing. It takes time away from workers to complete tasks.

Yes they keep cutting more and more from the FS, yet keep the store open normal hours, with very little staff. Something has to give, this is unsustainable. Reducing FS HOO is the only way to go.
