Can’t wait to see workload staying the same after cuts/layoffs/VSP because of the AI revolution. Somehow I think that is never going to happen.

I know a FE that went from 92 sites to 175
Our Director had the opportunity to stagger our release dates. Instead the team will be gutted on 09/13 and those remaining will tasked with handling the increased workloads. In addition a detailed synopsis was given to them regarding key strategic parters and how best to transition. Those too were ignored. It’s amazing how some Directors suffer from delusions of grandeur. They’re the smartest in the room and despite soliciting feedback they know better than anyone based their egos versus fact. I’m sad to leave but candidly hoping that chaos ensues as soon as we leave.
5G Hype bubble finally bursting… MEC, Slicing, Connected Cars/IOT, industry 4.0, AR/vr, remote surgery… did any one of these promises move the needle in any meaningful way? Now the word on the street is 6G will finally deliver all those promises…
Wanted 2 more years but the stress load is bound to double
Find a new job...use this place as a stepping stone. There is no future here...IT is going outside the country, and with every breath you take worrying about this place, is a breath wasted. There are no more benefits to staying.....you could go deliver packages for UPS for 20 years and have a better retirement than what is given here. As long as the landline portion is attached, its a boat anchor dragging the sea bed.
AI is just a front to hide sending American jobs to India.
There will be more RIF's after the VSP as the company did not meet their numbers
VSP 2.0 - beginning of the end off employees on Verizon payroll. Limited growth and short shelf life with FWA/5g in terms of stock price. Take the stock pop and shave after spike to keep limited div play intact.
First time in 30yrs in telecom the future is not clear for build and maintain network.
Nothing will change for good. Just more pure bad management and work. Wireless customer services always has been bad, and they force people to have a 3 years contract without telling you. You get a free phone, trade in your phone and we payback in a monthly payment, but if you leave you loose the rest. That sounds like a contract to keep you lock for 3 years.
No need to worry VZ will offer a fair severance so no need to work. The only thing is it is hard to find good jobs.. I pray you good folks make out well.
We were warned several times to be prepared for what happens next and that this VSP was the most enhanced severance package they have offered so far. Then we received more ominous emails about consolidating, reorg, more critical changes to be more efficient,I am paraphrasing. That was enough for me, I clicked the button the first day we could volunteer. My last day is 9/13. Retirement eligible. Those remaining take care of you, stay on top of your health and I pray that are successful on your own terms.
Verizon spends more time on re-organizations, then they do on developing a winning/growing strategy. The reports take a year to catch up, as it takes employees that amount of time to acclimate to new responsibilities. Yes, work does have to evolve, and shift, but Verizon is not allowing employees to become efficient at needed work. The next 6-12 months are going to be a mess, with less people, more work, and an ask to do it faster.
The changes after the last VSP are why I took this one.
So, take the VSP.
