Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Is anyone impressed by CTO?

Forget her past experience. Is anyone impressed by how she’s shown up at Nike so far? Do yall think she’ll be able to turn things around? What’s your take on her leadership style? Have my own thoughts but curious about others.

Really hope EH can see thru this fraud of CTO. You may have disliked the Rat, but at least he was a technical guy.

It is true: you ll need to fill out a form to meet her. And her admin will say she is too busy to meet with people on her team

Instead of understanding Nike’s playbook which has been successful for the last many years, Clowns, rejects and one trick ponies from Amazon can’t seem to learn from Nike and continue imposing the amazon ways of working at Nike. The CTO lacks respect for people and cultures of other companies. Tone deaf. Apparently one has to fill out a form to meet her :). bureaucracy and buffoonery at its finest. The board should take note and do what’s needed to course correct. As shareholders and employees of this storied company, we should be led by a leader who can communicate, connect with the employee base with empathy and support them with tools to do their job instead of indiscriminate behavior of yanking software tools and making it harder for employees to do their job. Shoveling over GT funds to amazon and microsoft will not help us. Infact it stifles innovation because employees do not have access to the latest tools and resources. Incoming CEO and board should rethink their strategy around GT.

She's a clown, zero understanding of how technology powers or doesn't power a company the size of Nike. She is easily fooled by the sharp sales people at Amazon & Adobe, she will end up flushing as many millions as the Rat did.

She’s one of JDs hire. She will be gone in a few months

She has no intention of moving here , she’s based in Seattle. EH will want his team local

The whole strategy in gt is blown up.

@2vhz+1uQDnIHR I would say if you have 30yrs experience and 8yrs in GT you would have been smarter than this by now. If you were then you would be leading a big piece of it instead of whining about the toxic environment.

Be the change not the complainer. :-)

Her motorboating skills are second to none. All kidding aside, I am really excited for her AI push. Slim down IT finally!

@1pjk+1uQDnIHR 30 years of professional experience, 8 years in global tech.

This is the most toxic place I ever worked for.

Pays well, moved to oregon and cannot move now, this is why I am still here.

People from gt come here to complain for the simple fact we all know HR will put a target at your back if you talk to them.

Also, why would you talk for your narcissistic boss who is known for backstabbing everyone, right?

It really doesn’t matter who you have in any leadership role in global technology. Everyone in global technology will still complain about it. That’s kind of one of the prerequisites for a job in technology. Do you like to complain? We have a role for you here!

I was really proud of this group here when we banded together and bullied her into updating her LinkedIn. She REALLY did not want to tell people about her new role for some reason. Really made me wonder why… was she hoping to do 1-2 years here silently, take a huge check and then slip back to Amazon?

I do miss her Instagram being public though. Hilarious to see her never in Beaverton but always Seattle and somewhere international every other week.

She wants to get Microsoft copilot and make a 50mil dollar splash to show she did something. When the company revenue is down by 28% this is what we need. Our product return rate is through the roof, the website is worst than most e-commerce sites but giving employees Microsoft copilot is high priority.. you know why? Because it’s easy and it’s not her money. It takes vision and effort to work on something that matters, rolling out copilot is no effort on Nike just cost and there might or might not be actual gains interns of dollars to the company. But she won’t stay that long to see it through so she will write checks and move on. For engineers there is a word called resume driven development, this applies perfectly here.

Is SHE the reason I have to lie about how productive these cr-ppy AI tools are making me? My boss knows they're expected to give a specific answer to "How are those working out?" so I have to give the expected answer, even though I'm 100% lying.

All she’s done is cut spending on critical tools, talk about how exercise makes her life better and force gen AI on us. I think she knows absolutely nothing about what she talks about. She’s a fraud.

poor leader and communicator. Not approachable at all and a misfit for this role from the start. She does not embody the qualities of a C-suite exec.

No. Terrible leader. No expertise, poor reputation. She is not a fit for Nike. She needs to go.

No. Not impressed. Yes, she is smart, but does she have tech expertise? No.

She was hired because her background and education sound impressive — looks good on paper and on stage. Does she have depth, no. Is she a good leader, no. Nike doesn’t care about that though. They care about the branding.

All you need to know is that she is a JD hire who knew nothing about the Nike brand before coming in
