I don't know what to make of this, what for a 20k difference you're laying off someone who is worth 2 employees and doing amazing work? There will be noticeable impact from firing those folks. Something in this process is very broken.
I'm not worried about the rock stars, they will find a new gig, but it is still our loss.

Colleagues including direct line managers who feel threatened and are jealous by these rockstars slot them as difficult to work with unlikeable. They cannot bear stakeholders singing praises while they cannot even match them in skillset, sharpness or high impact outcomes. My heart goes out to them. Good luck to all of them. No wonder CVS is a sinking ship. This nasty politics & toxicity is breeding mediocrity proven by Street’s bleak predictions.
Getting rid off rock stars is sadly a part of 360 review. Those who are cannot compete label them as uncooperative so that they can look good by comparison. Poor performers are not a threat. That is why most companies don't do these any more.
They did the same thing to us when our dept was hit earlier this year. Manager told us that our team of 15 are the "cream of the crop" and that's why we were still there. However, knowing my coworkers and working in the trenches with them for years, I would say out of the 15- 3 are top performers, 7 are consistent & the rest I'm just like scratching my head and asking why are they still collecting a paycheck when such other really good people were let go? I have no idea to the rhyme or reason. And I guess they think if they flatter us it means something. Seriously, we've worked together and know each others work habits & attitudes. Pretty much if you are a hard-working individual, and they keep you on, you are sc--wed. You will pay the price of having to carry the workload of 2-3 people.
They do this every year, it’s horrible! Last year, my dept lost two INCREDIBLE leaders and a few other managers who were humble, charismatic, sharp, and genuinely cared about relationships - our clients and brokers loved these directors. Unfathomable that the low performers don’t get the boot, but instead, the rockstars, the heroes do. scratching my head.
I wish everyone, except CVS leadership, well.
Problem is some dbag in a fleece vest that works for McKinsey or Accenture that has no freaking clue who actually gets stuff done is probably advising them
This was the case with the August 2023 Aenta gutting. Don't over perform or you will lose your job.
While they think they'll be saving money, it's going to cost them in the long run. This is the worst I've ever seen anywhere.
I knew one of them - she is an absolute rockstar and we had multiple collaborations over past few years. Her work ethic and intelligence is next to none on her Team. Sad and Disgusted.
Karen has really messed this place up...survey results will confirm the worst.
I knew one of them—he was a real rockstar, working tirelessly, jumping on every issue and solving them. Now he’s out. They’re just counting heads and calculating how much they can save, but bringing back the same level of talent will cost much more in the long run. I know no one is indispensable, but you need to keep the people who carry the biggest load, and now they’re letting them go. Whoever created this cost-saving plan is setting the company up for greater losses down the line. The corporate world is showing its fierce face—loyalty/hard work means nothing, and leadership isn’t about leading anymore, it’s about working for money and not caring about anything else. It’s a shame, but unfortunately, that’s how the corporate world operates.
Right, look at the ELT- savings there.
