Thread regarding CVS layoffs

They should have let people volunteer

I know several folks who would have been happy to take the package and leave. They are still here and while I know it's not over yet, I won't be surprised if neither of them is affected. It's a pity that some who desperately need their jobs will lose them while those who want out will not.

They would never because that would give you the control and not them.

I agree with your view. Last year I felt I should have been given severance with the cull of 5,000 (my job was eliminated and I was given a level-equivalent hellhole “opportunity” to fill). I thought about it for three days then decided to take an early retirement. There was no reason to place me in a position that was better suited for another individual who could serve better and needed to work. This type of thoughtful action by leadership of doing the least harm requires caring and uncomfortable conversations though. So given the sycophantic shallow nature of the current leadership with KL on top of the phony balonies, it’s not likely that seeing who would be willing to leave as a first thought for cost savings and personnel reductions would ever cross those minds.
