Not just the latest one. This is always true. I'm shocked there has never been a lawsuit against the company for age discrimination. I guess that's the only reason why severance is paid. People don't want to lose that money so they just accept what happened, even if they could have grounds for a lawsuit.

Nope not one bad review or performance plan.
Performance related ? Have you ever had any bad reviews ?
it's probably more related to higher salaries being cut - which yes correlates with years of experience. i talked with another affected person and we both made high salaries in our bands. feels very unfair to work up to a level and then get cut because of it.
What proof do you have? Last year it was mostly younger people that were laid off where I work.
It blocks you in that you will not get your severance if you peruse a law suit. Yes, you are correct it’s hard to prove and could loose. Especially given you are limited what you can email to yourself in that your watched very closely when let go and I’m sure they come up with some bullsh-t performance items they throw in your file after losing access/turning in equipment.
I believe that severance does not block employees from suing for age discrimination. If it’s against the law, it’s not waived. But it seems it is really hard to prove. I agree with you 100% - I’d love to see the data.
we lost someone with 25 years in
People in that age bracket are usually making more money though. But they take all of their knowledge And experience with them which hurts the company in the long run
Ding ding ding! Yes it is! Happened to me, then they lied and said it was performance related.
