It's annoying, but I can't help but worry once I hear something. The latest one flying around is about possible layoffs in October. Has anybody here heard anything about it? I 'm starting to think it's time I give up on PayPal and start looking for a job at a company with at least some job security.

Well you will know about them in Europe if they are to happen. Lucky people!
Me along with a handful of others were laid off in November. I can’t provide many details as part of my agreement however I will say that when I returned my laptop, it said “Project 2025” on the box. And I don’t believe this is a reference to any US political agenda. BTW None of us were under performing. If layoffs are going to happen, you will not know about them in advance.

Layoffs generally happen in January and April for most companies. Good thing I've been working in the office when it reopened and have weekly 1:1 with my manager. Most of the time when I'm in the office, it's easy to blow most of that time chit chatting with people in the office.
Senior leadership has confirmed that there will be no layoffs for the next three months; however, early discussions have started for Project January 2025. San Jose is expected to be significantly impacted, while expansions in Chicago and Mexico City are underway.
I'm based in Europe and I haven't heard any rumors recently.
