Thread regarding CVS layoffs

RTO enforcement

What will happen to people who aren't compliant? That many people getting summarily fired next week seems unlikely.

"What new buildings in RI?!"

2100 was built shortly before the Pandemic. And the Finance building is relatively new, only a few years before the Pandemic. Remember when that was supposed to be for all the new locally hosted datacenters?

"Also Woonsocket isn’t the armpit of the state….that’s CF. Woonsocket is more the top of a sweaty butt-crack."

It literally smells like a failed sewer plant half the year because of the failed sewer plant and the Blackstone.

What new buildings in RI?!

One CVS was there for a long time. And I know the finance building existed long before Covid as well.

Also Woonsocket isn’t the armpit of the state….that’s CF. Woonsocket is more the top of a sweaty butt-crack.

RTO is to justify the very expensive, brand new buildings they built in RI going into the Pandemic. Whole brand new, shiny office buildings were just sitting empty. It costs nearly as much to run them empty as it does full, so they want them full. Also, these buildings are in the sweaty armpit of RI so they'll never be able to sell them.

RTO was setup to get rid of the people working multiple jobs while WFH.

Rto is a poorly veiled plan to force people out without having to pay severance. cvs can barely keep the lights on and absolutely despises paying people to not work.

My leadership has said consequences up to and including termination. This is speculation: First, they will probably try to bring you into compliance. Next, for the bottom 90% they will get rid of you unless you’re deemed critical in which case they will reclassify you as WFH to resolve the issue.

RTO is one of the d-mbest things executives can do. Most of their technical/WFH eligible labor is already performed from overseas, so implying that only domestic employees have to lock themselves in a cube is preposterous. Any company who offers WFH for will easily poach the best employees. I'm not sure what the RTO endgame is, other than flushing themselves down the drain.
