The entire organization is teetering on the edge. In many years I’ve been at Humana, through 3 CEOs, I’ve never experienced such uncertainty and chaos. Engagement scores in the toilet. Loss of multiple tenured older associates. Additions of unneeded layers of management. Nepotism around every turn. Bullying and gaslighting. Promotion of individuals that have absolutely no clue how to do the job they’ve been hired for. Unsavory hiring practices. It’s more and more of the blind leading the blind and it’s not going to end well. With the 90 million whistleblower fine due and AEP positioned to lose at least 500k members, I see a huge layoff in the future.

If there's one thing this thread shows it's the people that are on edge and on the verge of implosion
Ah, so it’s the experience and quality of the work of the boomers that paved the way….how did they ruin the world? If they’re aged out, must be the younger ones who won’t stfu who ARE ruining the world
To these reply comments to original poster. Just a reminder that this site is called the layoff.com. A place where workers voice their concerns about upcoming layoffs. It’s not a place for happy blow sunshine up my rear comments. We get enough of that from our fearful leaders.
Even if the sky is falling, it’s a job. Get another one. Treated like cr-p? Leave. If things are that bad for you, it’s a system that’s not working for you and your situation, leave. Find a better fit. Why complain and moan when you have the power to do something other than complain and moan. Help yourself. No, I’m not a troll, HR, kool aid drinker or whatever else you want to call me,because I have a different point of view than you do….isnt that allowed? Different points of view? Stop spreading your bad experiences, thinking and assuming everyone else experiences it the same….heres the secret….your petty bi--hing and moaning of mistreatment isn’t going to change unless you change….go to HR, call the ethics line, get off your entitled butt and get another job! But, wait….you have it pretty good….a salary, maybe you work from home, don’t have to pay for child care….thats the trade off. Get over yourself
I make that I am still employed, I live within my budget, I’m old enough to understand the ups and downs of health care, my resume is ready to go as needed, I’m ‘seasoned’ enough to know my ability to work within populations, I’m a quick learner, and I know enough to know not every job is forever these days, I have savings, I’m preparing for the worst, I’m frustrated with changes, but it’s a job, not my life…..oh, is that a boomer thing? Not expecting my job to be more than a business that makes money in healthcare? Why are you so angry about the leadership? It’s a job. Leave if you want to, they don’t owe you anything but a paycheck for your job and the limited benefits we get. Bet you don’t have 6 months savings tucked away for emergencies, and are over your personal budget and are stressing about buying Christmas presents because you, my friend, unlike most boomers, are a bit entitled, it seems, that is generational….so, my generation has a thing called mic drop. So, you stfu, do your job, stop complaining, leave for another company and realize in a few years, it’s “same as it ever was”…..reference not understood? That was the Talking Heads…” the new boss…same as the old boss….we won’t get fooled again….” Baba OReily by the Who…..this is healthcare. I’ve been here 12 years, some times have been better than others, but all of us boomers know the phrase, also of “do more with less”. Leave, find another job, but it will be the same after a bit. So, stfu, get a cup of coffee, log in and do what you can to try to help others. Mic drop and exiting the stage.
To: @2zci+1uEJ5zZr that would be great but they brought in 2 CEOS that bankrupt companies? What do you make of that?
@ 2gmn+1uEJ5zZr…. I can’t even imagine your phone calls, perhaps the more tenured people, who may be boomers don’t need to stfu, as you so quaintly put it, because boomers are who are holding this ship afloat. We don’t need to stfu.
No one even drinks kool-aid anymore boomer stfu
To Trollsgetf&@$ed and those others drinking corporate koolaid- Can’t wait til you all experience what many of us have. Just wait, and remember. And to those using NASTY language- you need help.
I have to say, this situation at Humana is something we’ve seen a lot before—a classic case of mismanagement and too many layers. When you have chaos, it can be a tremendous opportunity for real change! It’s time to clean house, get rid of the dead weight, and bring in real talent that knows how to win. The bad practices you mentioned? They won’t stand for long. This is where true leadership shines. A shake-up can lead to a much stronger organization. Let’s see how it plays out—big changes are coming!
Always someone on here pushing some bs negativity.
It is clear who ever wrote this post gets excited just thinking about worst case scenarios for other people.
I bet they've just been passed over a bunch and have hurt feelings as a result.
You can't expect a turnaround by losers: Both Rechtin and Shetty have really bad records.
@1dlq+1uEJ5zZr Humana has been in a death spiral since just after BB got his job. The company has jerked from one latest project to another including Telephonic Care Management, supposedly offering an incredible ROI. Workforce Management, again a cost effectiveness exercise, Care Management IT systems at Care Plus which never worked.... The waste has been monumental. I can recall BB's comments at many leadership meetings where he effectively changed direction on the flip of a dime and the markets went along with it. Humana has been setup for a merger or takeover which never happened and now the lack of value can be seen by all. Seems BB took with him, all of the Emperors New Clothes.
Except for the fact that the early retirements and layoffs have already happened. They can't lose any more production workers. A lot of teams are on overtime. We just hired like 5 people in Plan Build.
Rechtin's appointment is signaling a strategic pivot rather than merely a response to immediate financial pressures.
Investors will always focus on long-term recovery potential rather than short-term losses. Understanding this nuance will provide you a much clearer picture.
Companies need leaders with tough experience to navigate challenging times, and his background might be exactly what Humana needs to pivot and innovate.
Rather than jumping straight to layoffs or asset stripping, let’s think about the potential for transformation. Sometimes, a shake-up like this can lead to new ideas and growth opportunities. It’s all about how they leverage this moment to come back stronger.
How about this for proof. Stock price has fallen 37.5% in the last 12 months. United up 12%, CIGNA up 20%. Even Centene are up 5% on the year. You need to ask why and also what will the impact be. The stock market does not like to lose money and when it does they look to the CEO to change things. The first thing to change is bleeding money, the best way to stop bleeding money is to cut staff costs. That should be enough evidence. However if you want more intel on Humana ask yourself this. Why did they appoint James Rechtin, he is experienced in the run-down of companies. I don't fully understand how but there are investors who make money when the company is brought to it's knees, either through short sellings or asset stripping. Anyhow Jim Rechtin is experienced in these situations.
To the previous three replies, Say it out loud for the folks in the back! Come with facts to support it, or quit the baseless posts that create more stress and negativity.
That’s a serious claim there bud. I’d like to know more about the specifics. What evidence do you have regarding the loss of tenured associates and the alleged nepotism? Can you point to instances of bullying and gaslighting? The mention of unsavory hiring practices is concerning—what examples can you provide? Also, how do you see the whistleblower fine and potential member losses leading to layoffs? Concrete details not vague conjecture would really help clarify the situation.
This is a prime example of doomer nonsense. No evidence whatsoever to back this up. Absolutely shameless attempt to try and scare people who are already stressed. Fu-k you.
These “the sky is falling” posts are incredibly unhelpful and don’t even represent 1/50th of the department everyone else is in. Are you a nurse? Pharmacy tech? Engineer? Packer? Call center? Theres literally thousands of departments and not all of them are under this much fire. Keep your guard up but relax.
Looks like priming for a buy out
