Who does the actual termination when they decide to cut your position/let you go due to layoffs? I report to a Director, so would it be them? Or does someone in HR do it? Thanks

You will find out when they ship a return box for your laptop.
For the person I know personally that was laid off in 2023 (a Director), his immediate manager (a Senior Director) informed him on a 1-on-1 call with no HR representative present. 99% chance if you are laid off it will be a call with your direct manger or someone in your leadership structure. It will be a short meeting with a vague title and no agenda/details.
The person who said it’s a mixed bag is correct. It’s as random and haphazard as the way things are being run around here anymore.
In 2023 my director did it. My manager knew about it but wasn't on the call, no hr on the call. Walked into the 'Business Update' meeting on my schedule that wasn't there the day before. There were too many layoffs that day for hr to be on every call, so the director followed the template that hr gave him.
My boss (exec director) and hr person were on the call.
Call was first thing in the morning on Monday and had the hr person on the invite
My friend layoff 2023 was notified in a meeting with her direct hiring management Director and the Director Director hiring management the Sr. Executive.
For my boss who had a Director title was laidoff by her hiring management the CEO.
My layoff of 2020 came from my hiring manager , who had a Director title in a 1:1 meeting.
I think it's really a mix bag and CVS has no standard.
I hear some employees will know as soon as this Friday and Monday.
wow. interesting. so the axe is getting ready :)
When they happened last year it was done by our VP for all 10+ impacted employees. Some people's managers didn't even know they were let go until after.
So, there are rumors on here that say layoffs are starting Oct. 1, but my manager is off that while weak. Is that a good sign then?
