Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

So next big layoff timing?

I’m assuming when Elliot gets in seat he’ll spend some time to reevaluate the organization again and plan on doing another restructuring and layoff. My assumption this will start in announcing around January and begin in March again.

Probably start with the leaders then work their way down to the individual contributors. No idea how many would be impacted, but at least this has to be the last one for many years I’m assuming.

So many other leaders need to go. Not just at the c suite level but several levels below.

@vjr+1uBiNMbh wouldn’t call it brave so much as delusional, ignorant, and arrogant. Undeniably unqualified.

Need more than EH to save this sinking ship! They need some innovative product and that takes 2-3 years to build. It’s gonna be awhile before Nike is really back.

EH was a footwear guy, not a job cutter. I expect him to try to bring the experience back to right the ship.

@vjr+1uBiNMbh You know there is more to Nike than the dysfunctional useless tech org right?

That is not how CEO succession works. It usually takes 1 year unless there is a huge public scandal. All boards are accountable to shareholders for proper succession planning.

In case you failed to notice (which you probably have since you opened this thread) we are back to category offense.

The reorg actually started when the RAT was fired. After that AC was removed from active duty. DH got promoted and likely started the cleanup, he lead the digging against the RAT after getting frustrated with nothing being delivered to him from GT for ND.

EH did not accept the job overnight, this whole event was in the works for a year. He was probably consulted beforehand.

This whole reorg was getting back to the category offense with focusing on key categories and cutting out the useless cr-p.

The new brand revival, the new direction, olympics ads happened with this moment in mind. EH would probably shuffle names around.

Most of us from tech are complaining about MD but she was the only one “brave” enough to accept the job. (I also do bit like her but that is the point)

It is a very risky move to come in from amazon with expectations to clean up the RAT nest.
