Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

Waiting Game

Anyone have the same experience of applying for a job and hearing NOTHING? I applied for a job on 8/29 and all it says is under consideration. Should I just move on or would there be a chance? Trying not to get my hopes up but DAMN.

Is there currently a hiring freeze?

Status means nothing. Jobs I check all the boxes in experience will show under review, ones I check most on will show under consideration. Then no recruiter updates statuses. I interview for roles, it remains under review. Posting is removed and reposted, no decline-still in pool. Posting filled, no decline. (Found this out by reaching out). The above comment is right, no recruiter declines you until it’s a done deal even though you may have been low on their list even id interviewing. Super frustrating, it makes me think someone is manipulating KPI’s.

There's lots of rifs rn.
We have hiring freeze and there's also a mixture of ghost postings.

In the same position. It’s been over a month. Still says under consideration but recruiter said manager is almost done with interviews and probably not doing anymore. Like WTF.

After a month of no contact from anyone, it’s either a ghost posting or you aren’t going to be selected. It definitely su-ks for sure.

Recruiter contact tells me that they won't deny you in the system regardless of whether or not you actually have a chance until they fill the position (if its a legitimate one), this means the prospect needs to sign the paperwork and be fully onboarded. At this point if you have not heard from them in 2 weeks or more I would consider that a decline.

It’s extremely frustrating especially if I want to move up or learn something knew. It seems it’s all in who you know

I’ve got positions I applied for in June still showing as under review. I’d rather just be rejected at this point so I don’t show as many open applications.

Ghost postings
Even for us, they take it down after sending rejection email and then repost the same req 2 weeks later

There can be many reason

  1. its H1 posting in which case u have no hopes.
  2. its a fake posting just to show govt
  3. its a genuine position, but then there are alot of internal mobility candidates. Preference is given to them.

I know for aure that there are many open positions so My suggestion to you is to apply for all the posts that matches ur skill.

Banks are the only ones that are hiring now

This is normal, I've heard from someone on the recruiting side that for every open position there are thousands upon thousands of applicants. A lot of unemployed people out there, I've heard from some people that have been RIF'd that they have applied to over a thousand jobs and heard nothing.
