I Love Friday’s!

I Love Friday’s!
I woke up early to make some fresh ground coffee to start my Friday working from home. Friday’s are especially exciting because some people have a standing 8 hours worth of meetings
I heard about this small group of three rebels:

  • They each have meetings at various times and lengths scheduled throughout the day.
  • They have a simple auto-join bot with this information that can be updated in 3 minutes.
  • They have a .mp3 recording of Town halls regarding RTO which plays on repeat all day.
  • The audio input serves as ‘active participation’ for meeting stats when they pull reports.
  • If someone messages them on MS Teams they respond. Do you know why?

Because our stupid leaders got rid of everybody and we are all used to the next-day response from our employees in India. Same with email.

They set this all up in less than an hour and you can’t catch them so don’t try.

  • Their Meetings are updated for times, durations, titles and meeting count each week.
  • Their Auto-join Bot is updated in 3 minutes and is undetectable.
  • Their audio input is staggered with gaps for each rebel participant.
  • I purposefully didn’t mention their number of participants as that varies, using one or two bogus no-show external invites.

TGIF.

Man, do I hate the India/US wait; we waste so much time waiting on info/action. And if there's an action item that they don't get to, well then you're looking at a 2-3 day wait on things that used to be same or next day results.

“Why dont they just set up one 8 hour meeting all day for the three of them. Log onto the meeting, mute it and minimize the window.”

Your suggestion does nothing except show your status as active in MS Teams. Great for your boss but terrible idea for the reports.
MS Teams generates a wealth of meeting telemetry data that can filtered and sorted. You don’t want to stick out doing an 8 hour meeting on mute.

Data generated includes meeting length, participants, cumulative length of audio input to gauge level of engagement (did you speak during the meeting, were an active contributor or were you just listening in and camping out), did you join by audio only, were you on time, what time you left the meeting, etc.

“Friday is no meeting day. I block the whole day out.”

So then you let them know you are idle? The Telemetry data from various sources must indicate active input. (mouse, keyboard or voice).

“Giggle the mouse a few times to prevent the screen saver from turning 'on' You are now 'active.' It's a great 'ending' for the day.”

Not good enough. Mouse needs to travel and click. Telemetry of a mouse jiggle tells them all they need to know when repeated throughout the day.

I jiggle my mouse all Friday. Sometimes from the office.

Friday’s WHAT?
Maybe T should add basic grammar to required PLE trainings.

good plan, I played a cd on a loop and this prevented Q showing me idle or away from my desk.
