Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Anyone worked with or under EH?

Care to chime is? How is he as a person? What is his leadership style? What makes him different from others? Does he care about the customer? How about the employee?

JD was from Bain and might have been a good lieutenant but horrible field general. He does not make us forget Patton.
Best way I can put is JD might have read Kama Sutra and know it word by word but a virgin

He's no Sandy Bodecker but EH will listen and can make rational decisions based on more than just fear or lack of perspective. I also think he'll be the right guy to clean up innovation. Which is long overdue.

One of the best leaders I have ever known and worked under. Inspiring. Creative. Respectful. Authentic. Humble. Holds people accountable. Innovator and problem solver. And smart as heck! Is he the right choice to elevate the brand and take the company forward? Time will tell. But for the present, he’s absolutely a great choice. Employees, share holders, etc., can feel confident in E and will rally behind. Truly one of the best. If anything, I am surprised by his desire to return. But he loves the brand and no doubt the challenges that are ahead. Welcome back!

Best leader I ever worked under. Way back when he was in Nike Retail. Smart, kind, says hello to you by name in the hall even if you are many levels below him. Was shocked when he left in 2020.

Great leader in that he knows where the talent is and lets leaders lead. Kind. Compassionate. Understands the brand and the business. Will not lean into any one direction - but will let good ideas and people rise to the top. Was on the good side of things when there was one.

EH is a LEADER

JD is a robot sent to fire thousands of employees, take millions for it, and leave.

"Just like JD, privileged and full of himself. Nike CEO material apparently. Low humility score."

Sad you got passed over for the job? It appears the masses beg to differ 😂

Very humble and down to earth. Randomly pops up and chats with you no matter your rank and will try to get your pulse.

Amazing team builder and talent developer. Climbed from the bottom so he knows how cr-p it is if you are passionate but get blocked by uninspiring&unqualified people.

Likes rules, processes, consistency and accountability. Works really hard & plays really hard.

JD is a great manager but a lackluster leader for a brand like Nike and you need a leader for a turnaround.

His consulting background and shortcomings trickled down to his leadership team and created a culture of beating around the bush and not taking ownership for any decision and following through on commitments.

If you care about the brand, want to do a good job but get frustrated by incompetence and lack of leadership than you will enjoy the ride.

If you are a 9-5 person and see work as transactional and don't care much about the culture than you wont see anything different.

If you are in a position where you create a ton of artifacts and deliver zero value then you should be concerned. He will put you back to work and expect value.

He is hardcore and fun and crazy about the team & culture. Rewards generously when you deliver.

This was not an overnight decision, JD had to pull the trigger on reorg and absorb the blame. The board wanted to avoid a situation like CDA where a new CEO stepped in to pull the trigger on something that was already in motion. JD was supposed to stay until H2 but the public pressure and employee dissatisfaction accumulated faster than the board expected.

The Bloomberg hit piece was the final trigger.

I was in a half dozen meetings with him, he comes across as humble but firm, has clarity of thought and is very sharp. No BS, no gimmicks. I think this is a good choice.

I personally work with and for Elliott and will tell you be very happy with this call. No one can fix this mess over night. And if you think he will come in and let you work from home full time… bye. He will bring back real work and innovation. If you are scared of hard work to make Nike better, move on. For those all in you know this is an amazing change and by ready to be happy!

Worked directly with. High trust. Humble. Athlete advocate. Respected by retailers. Multiplier, developer of people. Team builder. He should have been the one in 2020.
