I used to hear this a lot pre-JD and in our growth years of Nike. Seems like we need to focus on “what got us here”!
I’m still shocked that Mr. Knight allowed this to happen to his company. Even further, he endorsed what JD was doing.

I agree that JD has taken more of the blame that he deserves. Yes he deserves a lot, but cutting retail partners and relying on NSW instead of innovation began years before JD. However, most of the “old-timers” disagreed with a lot of it but were blackballed or shown the door by the consultant-types that had already infiltrated Nike.
Absolutely agree! People seem to forget that they backed every move JD made. JD didn’t make all these decisions alone and PK even backed him publicly earlier this year. Some roadmaps were created before he even joined Nike!
It goes to show how quickly people flip just because of one leader when the system is still flawed. I’m still glad he’s gone but he took the fall for many.
Buh-bye JD. Maybe you can take the zillions of $ you skimmed from Nike and go coach high school basketball... in Winnetka. hahahahaha
