Karma?
Only with what he got at Nike, where he failed big, he will likely be able to live with at least $5M-$10M a year just on gains.

When your legacy is a Bloomberg article detailing how you embarrassed and wrecked the biggest sportswear company on the planet as CEO.....ouch

That's going to follow you forever.

Yo JD, don't let that emotional burden hit you on the way out. You can process your grief, but it won't be with us!

Even a casual observer would be able to see that suddenly 'retiring' after being forced to take a paycut as a CEO is not exactly what it seems. The world knows he was kicked out after almost grinding the co into the ground; he'll wear that egg forever, even if he tries to cover it up with dollar bills. Thank the universe the inst investors (I'm guessing) and analysts finally prevailed. LFG!

I can see JD being told “You’re fired”, thinking about it for a few seconds, then asking “Does this mean I can’t use the jet anymore? Maybe at least a ride home?”

I haven’t done the math but I think JD walked away with over $100,000,000 in compensation. For tanking the company and stock. If only I could be so lucky to fail upwards like that.

nah. It’s called mission completed not karma. retiring from the job + the paychecks all these years, don’t compare this to what being layoff actually means

Board lost a pound from that conversation.

Late but good decision. He is not managed out, he retired is the official statement. It would have been great to have statement from Nike that says, he was fired.

He is walking away with millions. He broke the company and so many people’s lives

Most pathetic human being

I was just thinking, this guy was on video almost bragging about his ruthless efficiency with “managing people out”. Now for the first time in his career he was on the OTHER side of that conversation.

I hope the Board refused to carry the emotional weight of having a conversation with him about it.
