I was reading an article on teamwork that says "if you begin another job outside of wf your employment with wf ends and you will not be eligible for severance pay and benefits". My question is, how will they know if you secure another job? Has anyone successfully done this?

Work for cash in the meantime
Like it's even possible to start a new job within that 60 day window in this market...
ADP Pay Insights is nothing like what you say it is. It’s a macroeconomic research service with information derived from its payrolls. Nothing whatsoever about a service for looking for double dipping.
ADP pay insights will tell employers if someone has multiple accounts within ADP and also will the work number employment verification service . Take a second job during your notice period and be sure to come back and report when you lose severance so we know about how long it takes .
I call BS that ADP will reveal between employers whom they employ in common. Google it. Prove me wrong. Show me their webpage where they describe this value-added service.
I’m with you though not sure if deferred payment doesn’t mean you’re on some payroll.
There’s always a lot of conjecture here on this topic, but nobody speaks definitively about people caught and how.
Not to throw shade (well maybe a little, we’re all just havin’ a little fun here) but it’s funny you suggest reading carefully. The question is about employment during Notice not Severance.
You can put a hold at the work number site. I also believe WF laid off the "compliance" people who are tasked to look for reentry of zz employees. Or the probably have this task being done in India.
You can also do what I did and have the new employer defer payment until the notice period is up. Anyway this worked for me.
During the notice period you can't take a new job since you are technically still employed. The packet states that once that period ends you would have to tell them you are taking a new job, but you are not obliged to. Taking a lump sum cuts all ties immediately.
Signed up for the work number. They have all your salary history and not just your current employer. It’s scary how much information they have and possibly accessible to other companies. WTAF.
This has come up several times. Do not take a job during your 60 day notice period. Negotiate your start date after that. At that point they either pay you a lump sum or you’ll continue to get your severance payments. It’s not worth risking your severance by moving up a start date. Take the time off while being paid.
If you have a 2nd job before being let go… they can see the dates of the 2nd employment were before the notice period, correct ?
They won’t find out.
Take the lump sum payment. Problem solved.
It may feel like it, but you are not on a slave plantation. You can work a job while receiving severance pay and no longer reporting to work at WF. The severance pay is not to keep you from working. It's to keep you from suing them. Just be sure to read whatever you sign carefully.
With all the cost cutting Wells is doing, it stands to reason that they'd look for any excuse to not pay severance. Don't give them one.
Take a 1099 job while on notice period
https://theworknumber.com/
This tracks all of your jobs/paychecks etc. All employers have access to this and can easily see that you are working elsewhere during your notice period.
No, you can’t get another job during your notice period . Don’t f around and find out . As for knowing , if you receive any kind of paycheck from the other company and they use a payroll service , wells will find out . These payroll services all have programs to provide info to companies including ADP which is what wells uses .
