He flies the jet to work, we drive a car.
He goes to Augusta, we got to Quail Valley.
He makes $30m, we make…well nowhere close.
He goes to the Olympics, we watch on tv.
No one cared when MP did some of these things or when PK did. It’s how he treats us, not what he does. His place is not Nike. He drove 2 companies into the ground before this…it’s like the Twilight Zone every single day.

You said that PayPal has been getting beat by newer companies like Venmo. PayPal has owned Venmo for 11 years.
If you read our 10k, apparently the board thinks an appropriate compensation for JD compared to the median salary within Nike is 760 to 1. Median salaries are retail, who actually work hard to elevate our brand while JD and his cronies make way more to drive our brand into irrelevance.
Total strategic failure at EBay. Moderate below-industry revenue growth during his tenure with a legacy of confusing unintegrated acquisitions, annoyed sellers, poor corporate culture and loss of PayPal (which has also fallen behind vs new entrants like Venmo). The company is an also-ran now.
He wasn’t at Service Now long enough to have an impact but it has been going well since he left.
This is a middling resume that in no way qualifies you for Nike CEO.
Awful corporate governance.
I don’t like JD nor do I believe he is a fit at Nike. I think he and most of his surrounding execs should be replaced. However, I’d say it’s misleading to say he drove his prior companies “into the ground.” He’s had moderate success with his earlier companies. The mistake was thinking this would translate to success at leading Nike.
Knew yes. Unable to do anything about it other than leave…yes. Covid all company meetings from SoCal or the most expensive condo in PDX.
You knew John was no true leader when he self-proclaimed himself a servant leader in media stories. Ugh, how embarrassing and narcissistic.
