I heard that the final number for VSP was about half of what they wanted to get so a RIF will be here before the end of the month. Anyone have any good info on this? Wouldn’t a large RIF have to be reported prior to it happening?

A 30% RIFF is unheard of by any stretch.
mid October RIF date for certain groups with off payroll before Thanksgiving. bet.
So 5K would mean 15% took it. That's not bad. I think that is similar to the first VSP take rate. To get to the rumored 10K target they would have had to have had a 30% take rate. They knew they were never going to get that based on numbers from the first one.

software development specifically. this includes managers too, so managers without deep understanding of our network will be rebadged, assuming they are needed at all (due to lower staff counts). this is why we had so many directors apply for the package.
What groups are the rumored to be affected by a rebadge? IT? GNT?
rif coming late this year. followed by rebadge. the rebadge bit is why I ended up taking the vsp. I didn't want to pass on a year instant salary only to have to work a year as a contractor to get the same amount of money (and as an employee of a contracting company, no more 2-3 weeks to leave).
best I can tell, we are looking at about 30-40% of those who passed on vsp being included in the rif,. and most of the remaining being rebadged. if it sounds too bleak to be true, ask your management about the requirements for being retained next year. for software devs, they only want to keep those with deep knowledge of the network.
No a RIF doesn't require filing before doing one. It all depends on each State and it can be filed after notifications are given.
As far as take rate being too low, I heard that it was below the number they expected. So far they have honored every request in GNT, that is what was being stated.
