Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Is anyone putting in full effort anymore?

I'm just going through the motions until this whole mess gets sorted out and I can figure out where I stand. I know chances are good it will never get sorted out, but I don't care. My new motto is "give back exactly how much you get." And Nike is barely giving us anything at this point.

Why try harder? You'll just get cut in the next phase. Keep your head down and find a new gig.

We cannot bounce back with that attitude and that attitude wouldn’t work at any company. At the end of the day, if you can look at yourself if the mirror knowing you could do better, but didn’t, then you failed yourself, not Nike.
It’s a good time to learn new skills for either here or somewhere else. A great skill is to be the one to lead change and motivate others. I guarantee you’ll be happier, no matter where you work.

Nike has proven many many times that it does not care about good performance at all. You are welcome to work toward being highly successful but one of these scenarios happen :,
Your performance will be calibrated to successful or meet expectation on behalf of another a-s kisser
Your manager take credit for your job and secretly may hate you for outshine them
Your work is just lost or thrown away in the system and only causes frustration for yourself
Down the road, Wallstreet does care about how ELT has acted and ELT does not even care or understand what we are doing ....
So yeah please stop having the illusion that you can save Nike.... Save yourself

For me - I like my direct line leadership, so I give my effort to maximum about possible. Now leadership above that, I do just enough to quell the noise.

Most of my compensation is stock related so better the stock price the bigger reward but right now, not much of a incentive to work harder. I guess chicken and egg? If everyone else is giving up, why should I work hard. Let’s keep this negative momentum going and maybe we all get laid off but with smaller amounts than the previous wave.

Ask not what Nike can do for you… ask what you can do for Nike… be the change you wish to see.

Leadership is needed now more than ever. You don’t need to be an exec to lead change.

I think it’s fine to get emotional and criticize things that we aren’t doing right, but if your response to adversity is it just coast, I hate to break it to you, but you’re part of the problem and are no better than the failing leadership you’re criticizing.

Step up and show everyone else how things should be done.

Give your best, Nike deserves it. If you can’t, step aside and create space for someone who will.

Nike has had 150% dedicated effort from me for years and it has shown that it really doesn't matter, it makes no difference. CFE's, IDP's, career conversations.........it means nothing.
When I see Nike dedicate 150% of its effort to its employees, (though actions not words) then I will reciprocate it back but for now it has lost my dedication and loyalty. Sad

They have caused this, not the dedicated hard working people that work here.

I give 100% no matter what. The problem is when ACN gets in the way or the poor VP leadership in SEC let’s them slide. ACN just pulls in more money, no matter what they do/don’t deliver.

Yes because half effort means half results and we will never be part of the solution just complaining about the problem. I want stock back up, growth to return, and the old NIKE magic back. So yeah, 110% effort here.

If I wanted everything fair and only decisions that I thought were correct I would start my own company. Instead power through it and do my part here the best I can today.

Maybe that isn’t popular, but I don’t like to quit and I’m not here to lose. People are terrible everywhere. The only thing I can do is be the change i want to see.

Why does effort matter? They don’t want it.

Our in flight plans for the coming year are getting reduced or cut outright. Future layoffs seemingly have already been locked in.

If our effort meant anything .... Unfortunately our effort do not mean anything... And too much effort may even provoke jealousy of a slacker manager...

It’s clear from the last layoff that effort, skill and performance don’t mean anything. You’re better off spending your time on yourself, networking and looking at external opportunities.
