Your Manager knows before the July 27th VSP date - Trust me

My manager already knows as of today 7/12 that I Pushed the VSP Button. He actually called and asked if it was true that i did accept the VSP. I told him yes. I also verfied with him that 2 other team members pushed it as well. he said yes. So far that makes 3 just from his team out of 13 FE's. It makes sense to this as they need all the time they can get to start reassigning site assignments to the remaining team members. Giving them more than what they have already asigned as well as their assigned geographical area. So like I said they do know way ahead of the date that was given in the VSP Detailed dates. I also believe that there will be no denials, and very minimal extensions. I believe that the company wants all these folks off the payroll by end of 3rds QTR.

If you told anyone you were pushing the button, they probably shared with your boss.
I know of 2 FEs in our region who selected the VSP (I'm in your partner CE shop). Of any group I work with, the FEs probably have the least to worry about for a subsequent RIF.

Wishing you the best!!

My VP knew about the folks volunteering before we had a chance to tell them. It has def already been shared at the VP level.

@2aje+1tvMdEYr you need to go back to the AT&T board. Vz leadership isn't quite as cr-ppy as yours.

My manager is not in the loop, she asks me what I hear. VP knows who took it. 3 more days to push the button!

If you're manager is not in the loop, perhaps he too is getting his walking papers.

The way the last big VSP worked in 2018, was once you pushed the button, directors had a say if you could leave or not and also managers had to suggest off dates since some folks were needed longer to transition their work. Directors had an opportunity to reach out to encourage a select few to ‘un-push’ the button before deadline. The reason I know this is because in 2018 VSP after pushing the button, my director reached out to encourage me to stay. I thought about it, since I liked the director and my job, but I was tired of Vz poor leadership, even worse under Hans, diversity push against white males, and tired of my useless narcissistic manager, so I declined to stay and was setup for the last off date 6 months out. The director did have the option of not allowing certain people to leave but didn’t want to force anyone to stay. If it works like before in 2018, they had 3 off dates, end of month, 3 months out, and 6 months out based on business transition needs. Also in 2018 VSP, they claimed if not enough pushed the button, there could be RIFs. But if you’ve been with Vz any period of time, there is always RIFs and restructuring! My suggestion, stay if you really need a job and not quite ready financially, otherwise if close to retirement, take the money and run! I’ve been gone 5 years, retired, unstressed, and enjoying life…. Good Luck!

Just start quiet quitting with your work if you are taking the VSP. What difference will 9 weeks make in a job position Aren’t we all lame duck employees now anyway?

I wouldn't be surprised if the headquarter moves to Texas after the VSP offer. And then they give you an option to keep your job but you have to move to Texas on your dime. This way you are self-firing yourself, and they don't need to pay you severance or anything else. I'm just guessing, but many companies do this kind of stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if Vz did it as well. After all, the CEO isn't from USA to care about USA employees.

I am an AD and I have no knowledge other than from speaking with my team. Same goes for my Sr Director who I have an excellent relationship with. Our SVP said on a town hall they have no knowledge either and they are a straight sho-ter. Don't believe all the BS from the liars on this page.

@1mlq+1tvMdEYr Executive leadership (SVP and up) and Executive level business partners will be making the decisions. Now, will those SVPs solicit any input from their lower levels? Perhaps and may depend on the org. Off payroll dates will be based on how much work is to be absorbed by those who remain (alot), who will be backfilled (not many) and what work will be trashed completely (probably a fair amount). It's been very, very clear that the majority of those going will be off payroll in September. I'm hearing that there are some pretty significant budget contraints in GTS, so read between the lines. I'd suspect there are many non-mandatory projects that will just get canned.

Even if you click, it's still BAU because you don't know if they will accept it at any level.

Many Senior Directors and A-s VPs have pushed the VSP button because they have been told it's a musical chair game so you better take the VSP. They were also told not to tell anyone and just keep up the BAU appearance until announcement. It's stupid to have a VSP and pretending BAU as if that matters. These upper mgmt people are too old just like Biden and should retire anyway to give younger people a chance to make VZ better.

"but you must know that your manager will have absolutely no input to your departure date." - Do you know this 100% to be true? No matter if your manager is a AD / D / ED / VP ?

I know they are hoping to have input, but I would like to go in Sept.

Whats odd is I pushed the button early that first day and in my first meeting with my manager they made it seem they had gotten some sort of notification and assured me they wouldn’t be attempting to block anything or request they I stay later and wished me luck. I don’t see anything in my sent folder so I’m fairly confident I didn’t forward the confirmation over.
I was open that I was going to take it the day the email came out though so not sure why they would try and trick me into telling them with some story about notification but who knows. I never expected them to have any say of if I went or when so saw it more as a pleasantry or perhaps just getting ahead of it and saying whatever happens don’t blame me.

@gwp+1tvMdEYr and @1tly+1tvMdEYr are correct

For @1mwe+1tvMdEYr, I saw the wink, but you must know that your manager will have absolutely no input to your departure date.

No managers don’t know. I am a senior director who pushed the button and my AVP only knows because I told him. The SVPs are getting counts but not names. However, they are certainly talking and trying to guess.

I pushed the button on the first day, early in the morning. I haven't changed anything since. The actions of my management lead me to believe they have no clue that I pushed it. I wouldn't believe anything being tossed about on this chat. Management won't know who is on the 'list' until the window closes on July 27th. Are they checking counts, absolutely. Are they maybe reporting take rate to the VP's, probably. Are names floating around, absolutely not.

@sqv+1tvMdEYr Verizon doesn't show clear commitment to its employees, hence the May 30 RIF and the fact that they've all but announced another RIF if enough people don't take VSP. Does that sound like commitment to you? So why tf should anybody show them commitment beyond a paycheck?

Yessir we know who has pushed the button. Please think before you push and then pullback because if your commitment is not clear, you may be a rif candidate.
Verizon is announcing a big AI partnership shortly and more jobs will be on the block or outsourced.
