Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Execs MIA

Joe - let's negotiate a couple of contracts and outsource a good portion of our workforce.
Bob - great idea Joe!
Mary - yeah great idea Joe!
Joe - Great, everyone agrees - let's get started

  • 8 months later---------

Contracts are complete - fully executed and work starts:
Joe, Bob and Mary leave the organization.
Uh, does that tell you something?

It's all about pumping the stock price now. Who cares if it drops later because the underpaid ticket farm employees can't fix complex issues in an unfamiliar environment and significant outages occur? They got their bonuses and dumped their stock before the hit happens. I feel just as bad for those that got moved to insurance before it was sold to a private equity company that's going to squeeze every last drop of blood out of it, let the insurance company go bankrupt, and wipe their hands.

I'm sure all the technomagical automation will fix itself when something inevitably breaks.

I wish they would just go back to how it was before Covid. We had lots of people in the office but also had a lot of flexibility for those who needed it.

We really need folks to pay for parking and gas coming back into the office before we ship these jobs offshore though.
