They knew all about AC and her son running the biggest reselling operation in the country, but did nothing about it until it became known.

Resilience is literally the team that protects the brand. From security; to investigating various claims, etc. they’re all about protecting the brand from anything “negative.”
My favorite resilience stories are when people report things in the speak up portal and end up on the layoff lists OR straight up fired. The top tier ones are those who reported things that happened during layoff season and their first round convo said “you’ll be with the future of Nike” to getting laid off in the next round.
However a GREAT resilience story I heard involved LJ. I heard this through the rumor mill so, I can only tell the things that I heard from multiple people:
- The morning RL’s resignation came out, before his resignation came out, LJ asked her admin to wipe her office iPad of all of her texts blaming it on an issue with her messages not syncing across devices.
- Admin did that, because the announcement hadn’t come out the RL was resigning.
- Admin reported what happened in the speak up portal, after that announcement was made and LJ’s accounts were deactivated.
- Resilience team then asked the admin to quietly collect the iPad from LJ’s office to turn it in for investigation.
- LJ then reached back out to the admin after a week for “help with something.” Then resilience asked the admin to try and figure out what LJ needed.
The best part is that if they didn’t do the above (firing/laying off people who blew the whistle) this entire situation - kickbacks, gross misuse of budget, fraudulent activity, etc. - within GT could be been stopped.
I’m confused as some of these replies don’t seem to have anything to do with resilience (security, business continuity, health and safety, product security, Nike intelligence center, investigations). Does everyone actually know what resilience is?
Resilience was in the supply chain strategy. We know the consumer expectations changed so we focused on updating the DC strategy under VA two or three years ago. It's working out great. Recently ordered three items, got them in three separate deliveries, with the last one arriving 9 days after I placed my initial order. Wonder why consumers are not choosing our brand. The product is stale and when they do want something through our DTC channel, they probably forgot they ordered it by the time it actually arrives.
Resilience is great. Best run organization at Nike.
@2wwk+1toW4aLW You’re right, the grass isn’t always greener, that’s why you should stay away from resilience. Don’t let the fake pep talks and high fives fool you. If you have real expertise in any fields that resilience pretends to know about, you will hit frustration level with leadership incompetence in no time. If you’re here to just collect a paycheck, be a yes man, and have no aspiration to go anywhere else at Nike, then be my guest.
@2tff+1toW4aLW It won’t make a difference just like any of these other posts, but it sure as he-l it feels nice to say it.
As someone on the outside of this, I think you should see other areas in OGC before you complain about resilience. I am on a stretch in resilience and the leader of the department spent time meeting with every one of her employees for yearend. I have never seeing that in past departments. There were also check ins and conversations about the drop in stock. There feels like there is genuine concern for peoples careers and interests. I can’t speak for the whole org but I have been impressed and want to work in this department. The grass isn’t always greener.
JJ and CM are disasters. I’m sure posting it on here will make a real difference.
What does any of this have to do with Resilience
Hiring DD(VP of digital design) after it was publicly known that he was an incompetent leader at Twitter. I think he’s been here for almost 3 years, but hasn’t made any meaningful progress to any of Nike’s products.
JJ and CM in resilience are a sh-t show.
If you're talking about SB, you need to talk about DC as well. Both protect everyone around them, and are (were?) well protected themselves, while burning millions and millions....and creating nothing but smoke, mirrors and ppt decks.
SB taking analytics & data science to the cleaners and burning millions all the while being protected by HON. Epitome of cronyism and corporate su-kupology.
They knew the sh-t that The Rat and his minions were bringing in but did nothing until a lawsuit was filed.
Resilience?
We have no KPIs and that’s by design. We cant show how much we’re su-king in our respective areas if we don’t measure it. We’re burning through millions without any real value to the company, while senior leadership is happy just cashing in their paychecks. Security is the only group that actually brings something to the table and even so, I promise you neither WHQ or any of our facilities are really secure.
