@3kho+1tn0PQ4L, I hear you. But Wells Fargo has lost a lot of good ones and mostly bad ones are here now.

I am a mid level mgr and I don’t lie like a commenter above does. I have taken a bullet before for staff and will again if needed. Not all mgrs are useless.

Useless overpaid lazy managers don't deserve paychecks.

As long as I have my paycheck and bonus, I'm fine.

I am a mid-level manager. You have to understand that if managers can't come up with headcount reductions, managers get sc--wed and potentially lose their job. We can't have that. We managers also have a family to feed and a mortgage to pay. Don't blame us, we got to do what we got to do, sometimes managers have to lie to survive. My executive bosses are doing the same thing to survive. If you are in our shoes, I am sure you will lie to survive too.

"They are protecting themselves and their continued employment."
As you are doing.

Agree with the response that mentions meetings going nowhere. Too many managers spend the meeting time (or email threads before and after meetings) to point fingers and blame at others, on a quest to show THEIR people are never the problem. No real solutions are provided other than vague "we need to do a better job" and to place blame. All of which leads to another meeting, days later, when that group's manager finally pays attention to the thread and now wants to get into the theoretical pi----g contest. They aren't at all trying to protect their people. Oh no.... don't get confused. They are protecting themselves and their continued employment.

There definitely needs to be some culling at all managerial levels, and needs to start with the CEO. Not sure about eliminating all managers entirely, but I definitely think there needs to be some flattening with greater levels of empowerment and autonomy. The number of meetings occuring that lead to no actionable work is astonishing and is directly correlated to the number of managers involved. The level of bureaucracy and number of stupid policies and hoops we have to jump through can also be attributed to managers trying to justify their existence. Lastly, the balance seems all out of whack. You have some managers with 15 employess while others have like 4 or less. The whole hierarchy is busted and its no wonder we're still suffocating under the weight of regulatory consequences.

middle managers should be dragged off the stagecoach and swung from trees.

The number of Directors at WF with only a few direct reports is crazy. I have seen a number of them with none. What in the world do they do and why aren’t they ICs?

It's certainly run by an exec that should be canned.

Wells has too many level and most of them are nearing retirement ( probably sleeping in afternoon) and they ran from chase bank and hiding here .
HR should have this question in the Survey next time and act on it.

I have two friends who work at Bayer. It is chaos over there. Not sure if a no boss culture is the ideal. 🫠

Whatever happened at Bayer, I think they are moving in the right direction. Many companies should take this approach.
