Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Quote from NPC on GTA 5

“Outsourcing is the only way to combat unionizing.”

Crazy that I heard an NPC say that as I walked by it last night. It rings Verizon so badly. They are so scared of a union, they’ve outsourced and will continue to, they’ve given minimal raises but afford a massive multi-million dollar “rebranding.” It’s probably time to give them what they desire the least, as they have to us.

Sorry, that is not how this works. Once the process has started it is unstoppable. There is not a start/stop component. The rest of our careers if we continue to stay will be filled with uncertainty. Layoffs, RIF’s, furloughs, outsourcing, offshoring and will be our constant companions. Senior management will be in the same position, so they’ll spend their time covering their behinds. We are soon to be on our own. This whole thing is a finely staged stage play out of the corporate playbook. Nothing is left to chance. They’ll gut the company, while not losing the hearts and minds of the employees, until we’re no longer needed. That’s how it works.

Outsourcing is a money play. Giving money that could go to Verizon workers to the consulting firms. Giving money to potential future enemies of the US by setting up shop in those countries. Hans can’t grow his way to profitability so cutting is his only answer. It worked wonders at Ericsson when he led them to oblivion.

I guess that could partially be possible, but come on... Verizon already has union and resigns contract without negotiating the last couple of contracts. The reason they outsource is bc they can hire 3 overseas employees for the same rate as only 1 US employee
