Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Mysterious hr meeting in manager's calendar

trying to schedule a meeting with people manager for work related question but then find the HR meeting on 8/1, looks like a layoff related meeting(does not have that HR meeting at the end of june/May/April/March. Looks like something is really building up towards the week of Aug 7. It is like watching clouds thickening and wind howling before the thunderstorm finally comes

"85% of my team is Accenture and they can’t be laid off - this is definitely concerning". No they can't be laid off or not be in the US. You are right no can't lose 85% but they are either been replaced already in the background with offshore people via an American office address like in Kansas or South Dakota, buckle up the others will be on HB-1 Visas. This is the Future no American Workers. Big Business is saying to America dropp off we ain't paying a minimum wage we like where you have no set or any wage a lot of Forced Prison Work is happening in every sector. A captive staff who get paid in food.

Which clinical folks? Nurses? Pharmacists? Coram? Omnicare? Retail?

Post ID: @4wll+1tm9IKzv

Sounds like some of the clinical folks were laid off yesterday. According to LinkedIn, healthcare positions have remained pretty stable in this job market. Therefore, if they are cutting clinical staff it’s open season. Better hold for a bumpy ride..

If I had to speculate I'd say everyone and everywhere is on the chopping block. We all know that Senior executives AND the board will do anything to save their own skins.

please say which team, and title, location. There are 1000's of teams, 500 titles, 1000 locations for CVS, its not a pop and mom shop!

My team was laid off yesterday by the lead director on a group call. My boss wasn’t even on the call.

I'm 40 and making close to 200 vs someone 30 and making base bay , my manager cannot work without me and I'm fully remote

Usually target those that are over 50, generally over 55.

Listen there is no way to game the system and try to figure out how they will choose. Control what you can and that is your response. I just assumed it would be me and started looking. I had an offer within 3 weeks of my last working day. Pocketed my severance. Did this make me feel any better about losing my position, no? But, I took control on how I would react to it.

age? you mean if someone is 40 and makes more money will be on the list vs 30's making less money?

Who makes the decision?

My understanding is the manager can give input, ie: is someone performing poorly, attendance issues, etc. Ultimately, they have a consulting firm that runs data and makes recommendations. Like other posts; age is definitely a factor, income, teams that could lose an employee & pick up the slack, and redundancies.

Last year some of the layoff’s made sense. But, there were others that made no sense to me. I could list about 5 people in our market that were redundant positions, however, they are still there.

who makes the decision?
Is it manager, super boss or above that , who communicates, HR or manager?

because CVS doesn't file the WARN until the layoff occurs....that's why people continue to be paid for 60 days or so after the layoff but before severance kicks in.

Retail sourcing team (Talent acquisition) was “eliminated” today. 7 people total which included the manager.

Likely, if you are on a large invite, it is not a layoff discussion. Typically it will be your manager or your manager's manager...possibly just an HR person. They need to read a prepared script, talk about your separation and next steps. The one off stories about a clown CEO who has a mass layoff meeting is not going to happen at CVS.

If I have an invite to one of those big meetings with 100 people, does that mean I'm safe?

They will layoff the older ones first and call it performance related. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t had performance issues. They did it to me. Not one performance issues. Actually was a mentor/trainer with accolades. So what are you going to do file a lawsuit then forgo your severance? No one is going to do that. CVS knows this. Average middle class employee is living paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford to be without their income. That is how they get away with it.

C suite, your leader, no one gives a darn about you. It’s every person for themselves.

I think they've already eliminated thousands of open positions and cut Capex dramatically. Not sure how much they could keep.cutting before you lose the company completely.

Someone who asked how can they layoff without severance, looks like you were never laid off before, if company is not doing well they lay off ppl, nothing to do with individual work or performance, so they call and say, your position is eliminated due to rif, and email follows with severance info, 1 week per 1 year worked, take that and find a new position outside , I would appreciate if the person who got hr meeting mention the title and location!

How can they lay employees off with no severance if there are no performance issues? That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

That's it you got it this round is for every 3 people 2 stay 1 goes. The Older Employees are gone, no early retirement no severance just gone. Across the Entire Company. Many of the positions are already replaced off shore or outsourced already. Eventually there will be no US employees left. Store Closings are soon to follow. They have absolutely no interest in Employees anymore or work environment which is totally hostile to most. The meeting is going to be huge and it's to strike fear in who's left basically another one is planned later in the year down to a skeleton crew. As far as the Board goes the Pharmacy is done so is the Aetna side totally. Going into total clinics to everyones dismay. I wouldn't be surprised if they have workers on HB1 Visas instead of American employees. Nice knowing you all but this is just Arranging The Deck Chairs on the Titanic, Karen & The Board are gonna drive this company to the ground meanwhile they get their Golden Parachutes and we get nothing.

You will know if it is you. You will get a random meeting invite, usually the day before, or Friday, if scheduled to happen on a Monday. The day of; my teams was acting strange, started first thing in the AM. Org patterns on colleagues and titles disappearing and reappearing. Did this that whole last couple of weeks until my last actual work day.

There will be subtle signs, but many will still be in denial. The writing is on the wall, bad 1st quarter, probably 2nd as well. Aetna has made it well known they are scaling back plans. CVS closing stores. Buckle up folks and dust off that resume, it's brutal out here!
