Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Time to Unionize… or layoffs continue and stock hits $50/share

The time is now. JD can’t lead us competently. Here are 3 steps we can unionize to save what’s left:

Step 1: Organize and Build Support

  • Form an Organizing Committee: Gather a small group of trusted colleagues who support the idea of unionizing.
  • Educate Co-workers: Distribute information on the benefits of unionizing and address concerns to build wider support.
  • Collect Signatures: Have workers sign authorization cards to demonstrate interest in forming a union. Aim for at least 30% of employees to sign.

Step 2: Connect with a Union and File for Election

  • Choose a Union: Partner with a union that aligns with your needs, such as OPEIU or CWA, to gain resources and guidance.
  • File a Petition: Submit the signed authorization cards to the NLRB to request a union election.

Step 3: Hold the Election and Negotiate a Contract

  • Vote: Participate in the NLRB-conducted secret ballot election. If the majority votes in favor, the union will be certified.
  • Collective Bargaining: Elect a bargaining committee to negotiate a contract with Nike management, covering wages, benefits, and working conditions.
  • Ratification: Present the negotiated contract to union members for approval.

OP, you’re forgetting that a single person owns most of the company. And can do very, very bad things if he’s unhappy that his company is now a union shop,

Horrible idea.

Look I’m pro-unions but forming a union at Nike would not help its stock lol

"Unionize?!? OMG if this is your idea of saving Nike then the company is already beyond salvation. Zero talent in a competitive open market is going to want to come rolling into a unionized company when others will pay them their worth. Crazy."

good thinking
we just need to outsource/insource more
and give the CEO a bigger pay package
heck, perhaps some stock buybacks too and a few more layoffs for the parasites, whoops investors

I think most of us would be happy with a new leadership team.

If they’re personally the reason unions start gaining traction on campus it will be a race between the board & investors to oust them. We don’t even have to be successful to get what we want.

Why $50? How do you get to that price? What is earnings? What is the P/E? Are you stock investor or just pulling a number out of the hat.
