Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Slim down

There is lot of Fat in the Tech org.
An application team does not need a 1000 people to manage and improvise.
It's a joke!

It needs to get leaner to get back to growth.
All these years of over hiring and keeping non-performing employees who got recruited based on referrals!

Agree with Op.

GT became a group of greedy VPs fighting for the biggest budget, largest team and saying yes to MD - who is yet to understand her role and cannot be challenged. Good luck if you even try.

year 1: we need 200m for Adobe. Everyone stops everything to fund that
Year 2 - 3: implementation leading to nowhere
Year 4: we need to move away from adobe

Now change adobe for any different thing
Slack
Zoom
Databricks
SEC

Self generating work and demand.

It s the most incompetent leadership team I ever witnessed. By far. And they continue there, with promotions and making big $$$$

Start with MD who has provided zero value since joining in Nov. She can go back to fashion, then continue with the rest of GT LT… have Tech move under operations and support the business needs. Why do we have DH org? Why do we have so many project managers and S band FTE PMs making $$$$? Duplicity all over…

1000 is not correct number…there are GT orgs with 700-800 people under one VP. The number is much higher. Cluelessness, crazy talk is how one becomes a leader at Nike, including Distinguished engineers or principal engineers or even architect.

And the crazy part is tech is the slowest moving team I ever seen in my life. 2 years to get most basic features that other competitors have had for years.

Come to NSRL! We have a lot of useless managers and directors who are always absent, or on PTO!

1000 people is just a logical sense here. I literally see some technology teams having 40% extra beef. I'm part of tech org and joined Nike 4 years ago. All i see is sloppy architectures, teams spending effort just to invent a wheel again (?)

Clearly you are someone that doesn’t recognize what it takes to keep “tech” going.
