Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Something positive, just a pointer to make your day easier

We use the Humanscale adjustable desks with dock. Network, display, and audio all come through a USB 3.0. Company laptop loses all sessions if you start your day plugged into Ethernet, and you unplug to meet in a conference room, etc. as it switches to VTEAM WiFi.

Instead, disconnect the Ethernet from your dock, so you’re always on VTEAM, even when docked. Your connection now doesn’t change upon undock so you’re ready to roll as soon as you sit down in the conference room.

Pro tip: if you really want to hit the ground running, search Windows for “lid” and you can change the behavior for when you close your laptop (Do Nothing / Standby / Hibernate). “Do Nothing” works best for carrying the laptop from room to room multiple times per day, and “Hibernate” saves battery while on-call if you can’t always keep it plugged in.

Been doing that for years. In office Ethernet always slower and the transition to VTEAM is always a problem. My problem is going between home and office. Sound settings always sc--wed up with webex. Things get flaky. Sometimes I just reboot to get it going. At home I lose WiFi altogether and then just reboot.

I guess the Polycoms that run off PoE just run off Bluetooth and air

I’ve seen lots of lan cables in irving though I haven’t tried them.
What I’d really like is a monitor on those desks that was usable. I’ve never seen so many dots in text since mainframe terminals.
