Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Made it Another Month

As a hated fully remote employee not anywhere near a HUB or client center, I'm here to report I've made it through another month without getting the ax.

From what I'm reading on here about US Bank following the Wells model in dumping eventually all full remote employees not near a HUB, all I can do is take it a month at a time. I'm sure the US Bank job Grim Reaper will get me soon.

And if you do live near a hub, they use the headcount to cut staff too. Damned either way.

They certainly don't GAF. They hate their employees. They are begging you to quit so you don't get a package.

Anyone following what Walmart is doing knows they can easily eliminate remote. Anyone NOT moving to a HUB is fired. They will lose 1/3 of employees and they don’t GAF

I second that BofA post. I was there then, too! I got laid off after declining to move close to a hub…then three months later they hired me back as a remote contractor. Ha! Sorry, but it’s just a matter of time.

"There are so many remote employees, they can't get rid of all of us!"

You can quickly tell who hasn't worked at the bank long. This bank has wiped out teams and even cities - they can get rid of all of you, and they have done so before.

I'm guessing that 10-15% of the employees are remote, not near a hub. I don't see why they couldn't get rid of us quickly. Sure there might be some disruptions here and there but I don't think they care. The lower level employees they can replace quickly and if your somewhat specialized, they will hire contractors until they find a replacement. I've watched them layoff entire teams in the past. Usually they try to give the work to other teams and if that's not possible, its doesn't get done until they hire new people. They don't think about these decisions as much as we all think that they do. Right now they want to cut costs and that is all that matters. They have pushed most of the employees into the office so it becomes easier for them to fire all remote employees. If I had to guess, they will do it all quickly rather then stretch it out.

It’s coming!! I got the ax because my manager decided he only wanted his directs in HIS hub. The others not in his hub all got the ax!

Bank of America worked with McKinsey "Years" ago - maybe 10 years or more. They set up hubs. Anyone not near a hub continued to work remote until the dust settled and once staffing could be determined, the first to go were remote.

I know this - I was there.

There are so many remote employees, they can't get rid of all of us! (I hope)
