Minimum time in office

I only got to get in for 1 hour today. Is that sufficient to count as a day in office?

Told at the beginning of the year to be in 8 hours. Shortly after was told probably 6 would be enough and that the report didn’t show hours in office. Usually stay 8 since it isn’t an issue. However, I watch people who obviously are only there about 1-2 hours at most. Saw co-worker come in after me so maybe 8 and left by 10 on Friday. I don’t see her often either. There are people that obviously take advantage of the time in office and others that don’t. I actually prefer that people don’t come in all day.

I think it depends on your team. My team keeps track of anything more than 4 hours as 1 day in office.

Shhhh like others said. Did you go to the office? Yes? Perfect, check the box and move on.

I have been doing that at the CIC in Charlotte for the past 2 years. I get my exercise that way.

Just walk around the office with a binder (nothing in it) or a note pad. It will look like you’re working. Bring an iPad or something you can load up movies on, and spend the day entertaining yourself. Again it will look like you’ve working.

OP,
Just keep your mouth shut. Quit with the what if scenario's.
Like they say, #1 rule of fight club, DON'T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB.

I thought the expectation was 6 hours. I honestly wonder how closely they're even monitoring the RTO. I don't think I've been over the minimum for a variety of reasons and my boss hasn't said anything.

@flx+1teFbPiJ, it's not fight club, it's flight club.

I think it’s four hours then drive home in the middle of the day. Take a conference call in your car, take no notes, not participate, and leave the work to the remote employees losing their jobs. Sign on two hours later and then leave early.

Why are we talking about fight club (again)?

I have been told that I have to be in office for 6 hours each time. The bigger question is why do I have to go into the office where none of my colleagues work? All other team members live in different time zones and I am the only one who lives in this location.

Been doing 1-4 hours - haven’t been told anything. I’ll wait for the warning.

FRTO / FHY. Never forget what they took from us.

Yes for now. 1 hr in the office for me equals to 4 hrs out of my day thanks to getting ready, commute and parking challenges. There's just not enough time in the day.

Depends on your group from what I’ve heard. For mine, yes, so far it’s been no issue. Don’t know how long that will last though. For us at least I imagine we’ll get a warning first if time becomes a problem, because we’ve been given no instruction regarding minimum time thus far.

I understand no one likes to going back to the office (me included), but if you already made the effort in coming to the office, why anyone wants to take the risk by giving WF the reason to fire you for not complying their policy?

It depends. In last 12 months, 15 minutes was enough in my group. I didn’t risk it and usually stayed 4 hours on average, but others did 15 minutes with no issues. We were just notified that we were now officially being tracked for number of hours in office. If we were not in office for 8 hours we will be written up and our performance reviews will be impacted. I’m in one of main hubs in COO. If management set rules on hours in office then I think they would give you notice so that it’s not a surprise.
