I looked to and said "They have it!". Ralph De La Vega was probably the tops but the overwhelming amount of SBC people is positions of power were just drecks. Manage through fear and intimidation and not someone you would ever take a hit for. Stankey is king of those type of people. Employees, Customers, and Investors just don't think much of him other than he is an out of touch hatchet bully man.

SWBT was my first payroll company. SBC was no better at building cr-ppy leaders than any other RBOC. Worst person I ever worked for was an Ameritech executive. There were good and bad from all sides but mainly bad.

AT&T is in a very serious tail spin and is doing everything it thinks it knows how to do in order to diversify its product offerings. Unfortunately, every time I go to a customer site for and APBA (cellular migration), there are complaints that the device keeps failing and the system it supports goes into alarm mode. T just can't figure it out!
Ralph is really the only leader I’ve witnessed at AT&T. Our current CEO was one of the intimidating leaders. I worked in his org for a while years ago and all I saw were surpluses. To me, it’s not a surprise to see the headcount reduction going on right now
Yes, Ralph was one of the better ones. He had the intelligence to GTFO early!
