Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Use the F out of Nike! Whether still working there or not.

My advice is whether you’re still working at Nike or no longer with the company use the F out of them for your own wins.

If you’re still working at Nike then start to look for something else and leverage your current/past role(s) in your negotiations with your new opportunity.

If you no longer work at Nike, you can still leverage your experience at Nike to propel you forward.

If you’ve learned anything at Nike it’s how to market, mislead, and BS your way through things. Now do that to your benefit. Stay on the offense while Nike plays defense.

Fifties grey hair folks do not have the best time looking for roles atm. Sadly Nike keeping us around is probably some kind of "fair hiring". Years of experience doesn't mean anything when you can't even get into a interview.

I ve been in contact with many TPMs impacted in Feb and April.

No exceptions, everyone is saying it was the best thing that happened in their lives

Way to go, @pqm

TPM here too, impacted in April as well. Also starting a new role, making way more, in July.

A relief after many years being bullied by many bad, poor leaders and peers. We were put in a terrible position and now the industry is showing we can be very valuable.

Keep your head up and remember how much you can bring to the table.

I don't want to be insensitive to those who are struggling, but I'm also hopeful that my news will be inspiring since the mood is generally quite down about the job market.

Won't share more information than I'm listing here!

Was laid off in the April batch (Product Management, not Eng.)
Starting a new gig at a faang (won't say which one) in July.
Had first applied in November (so it took a looong time and I was down-leveled in the process).
Title wise, it's two steps down.
Comp wise, first year TC is almost but not quite double (roughly 190%).

Faangs want to understand the issues faced by industry customers. No need to mislead or BS if you can clearly articulate the types of issues customers face and can envision solutions that will 10X customer efficiencies to resolve those issues. Ok, I guess the 10x efficiencies part is kinda BS :-)

The point is, there's hope. Keep plugging away. The job market may be tough, but companies are still hiring ... even as they're laying off in other areas.
