Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

All ELT & PK care about is not paying taxes

We got fu---d by JD, all so PK can try and figure out a way for his son not to pay a lot of taxes for taking over PK’s shares of Nike. How pathetic, you care more about your son not paying taxes on his multi-million dollar inheritance than you do making sure your employees are happy, are burnt out, etc.

After all JD is one of 5 trustees overseeing the transfer of the stock.

WAY TO WIN AS A TEAM AND DO THE RIGHT THING PK AND JD!!!

Off topic but….Reading his book will not help you understand what that place was like when he was running it. Hard to imagine under the current ELT but there was a time when Nike had great leadership and that’s why people feel so strongly about him and about what’s happened to Nike over the past few years. (No it wasn’t perfect but people were invested way beyond just a job because they loved the work and the community.) If zoom had existed, you would’ve never, ever seen a laughing emoji during a PK address. He was absolutely the most respected leader on campus.

The tax system in this state is so messed up to begin with. Can you imagine his kicker after another mis management of funds and they have to give the money back? After he pays his taxes to the state, PK utilizes tax strategies that allow him to donate his millions directly to where he sees they benefit the most and to organizations he’s passionate about. One of many Oregon specific examples is the 1803 fund in Portland for $400m last year. It’s a better investment than putting it all in the hands of the state gov for who knows what purpose.

…meanwhile. Kids in Beaverton, Hillsboro, Aloha, and surrounding communities have difficulty finding available fields and courts to practice on. Let alone other more material socioeconomic issues.

Not a PK issue directly… but tax avoidance (legal, illegal… or in the gray space between) while espousing how important sport is for all… quickly begins to take shape as a simple marketing gimmick vs an altruistic passion for sport.

I get the position he’s in… wants to pass wealth to the next generation. But at what moral cost? Just because you can stack loopholes on loopholes to avoid paying an amount of wealth 100x more than your average employee will ever earn, doesn’t mean it’s ethically justifiable.

On this issue, consider the implications on your own income; and the likely below-inflation salary adjustment you’ll receive this year of 0-3.5%. On which, you as a tax payer will be paying more as a result of said tax dodging.
