All the Nike content was triggering

Eh the whole winning isn’t for everyone, I won’t win quietly is not the message I took from the Olympics. Maybe Noah but I think most people were pretty turned off by that. I definitely won’t be putting those shirts on my kid for back to school.
Looking in the mirror Nike? “Winning isn’t for everybody”. Probably the only thing that Nike got right in terms of marketing.
I have a new one… “John Donahoe isn’t for Nike”. When is this going to become a reality?!?! Please!!!
Nike showed up well. Not great, but not bad. But that’s exactly the problem... Nike should never be satisfied with anything short of greatness, but so-so results are now the norm in this post-JD era. As a Wallstreet analyst recently said, Nike is no longer relentlessly self-critical and lacks the level of talent it had compared to 10 years ago.
Maybe it’s just me, but the way Nike showed up felt forced, an echo of the attitude it used to have.
If Nike had dominated more, maybe, but it seemed really out of touch with what resonates with, and inspires consumers.
Between On’s footwear innovation and adidas’s show with Noah Lyle’s, Nike felt a bit too try hard. I don’t see social media lighting up about anything Nike.
I thought we found our edge again.
You can have unity and compete. And the effort, focus, and drive it takes to compete and win at that level came through in the ads.
I love the Olympics and I’m sad they are over. And I appreciated the way Nike showed up.
It’s funny, Nikes messaging couldn’t have been farther off. Some of the best Olympic moments were about unity and especially for women. I thought di-ks ad were far superior
