Happily retired so finally have time to think. Since BB&T made such a big deal about our total compensation [which included the 6 on 6 401k match and pension] so the could pay us less than market, could a legal case be made for substantial salary increase if those things are reduced or eliminated?

You should ask yourself…Did Bill end the SunTrust pension in 2011…why YES he did. Does SunTruist keep cutting expenses…YES. At the expense of it’s employees…YES. Is SunTruist dying a slow death…YES. All the smart and competent employees and institutional knowledge have already escaped—-see Huntington Bank. YES. Is he positioning SunTruist to be sold so he can get another huge payout to pad his own pocketbook at the employees expense????

Yes, nothing is nor was going to happen.

The pension is funded for like 10 years without another bank contribution and it has a net benefit to P&L (e.g. it earns more than it costs)
