Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

There is still no strategy or clarity from the org changes four months later

“Across Product Creation, Supply Chain, and Innovation, we have the same leaders who got us into this mess trying to figure out how to fix it. I'm in Supply Chain footwear and I can honestly tell you, there's no way this group of leaders will be able fix or change the issues on our side. There is still no strategy or clarity from the org changes four months later, our great supply chain leader VA has no knowledge or interest in footwear and puts leaders in charge who know nothing about footwear, and our team lost most of the leaders who knew how to lead and had a long-term plan in April.”

To sum it up. And we all have known this is how it will be. Panicked reorg with no brains couldn’t have possibly been a saving grace. Source: @gwi+1tT2A6yr

The point of a reorg at Nike is to save quick $, and then make it look like we’re trying to solve problems by spending the next few years trying to figure out how to organize to solve problems. Basically a management trick - don’t know what to do but want to look like you’re doing something. Newsflash! The problems are self inflicted and ain’t no quick fixes. Is long past time to roll up the sleeves, grab a shovel and start scooping out the cr-p. Make every focus be about Customer, Automation, Being Easy to do Business with. No more silos, no more fiefdom builders, no more a-holes hiding behind perceived boundaries and taking responsibility and ownership of nothing. If a team is f’g up all the time, they’re done - give the funding and resources to teams that give a sh-t. Nobody collaborates anymore, is all about “me” and stupid-ar-e selfish behavior. Cost me time and $, then let me take it from your budget. No more f’g around. Time to be a Business that is about making products, getting sh-t done, being efficient, and making some $. Love making cool sh-t too, but gotta be at least marginally competent in supply chain and OTC processes to get goods to market and be profitable. Do it! Stop pretending, start smacking heads, and for goodness sake get rid of the money grubbing consultants from Accenture, Infosys, and Cognizant —- they are not working for nor acting in Nike’s best interest. Anybody that believes that is a naive mo--n.

There is no strategy. The point of the reorg was to get rid of people and save some money, not improve anything.

Speaking of no strategy and a clusterfck there should be some attention put on the Bowerman Footwear lab. Grand plan to spend millions of dollars on it but not have a plan on how to use it

NA Brand Creative is a dumpster fire. They refuse to post an org chart but they preach transparency. A big mess!

@ajw+1tTmrrPB A bunch of useless clowns who are paid 6 figure salaries and the only thing they always do is to recommend restarting the computer! Seriously?
Force plate is out of sync? Restart the computer!
High speed video not working? Restart the computer!
Cameras are not working? Yes! You guessed it! Restart the computer!

Meanwhile the principal researcher is let go from NSRL! WTF

I work at NSRL, and it’s absolute chaos! There's zero clarity and no structure when it comes to roles and responsibilities. Ever since the layoff, the quality of our workflow has taken a nosedive. We can't even collect research data without running into a million hiccups! And don't even get me started on that damaged force plate—can someone please fix it already? Get it together, crowns!
