Tricks done in SAP to prevent favourite people from being fired

Hi all,

I know one person in PES that was affected by restructuring and was literally "unfired". He disappeared from the system just to reappear the very next day. The ISP code for restructuring disappeared as well. His manager said he talked with CK and got "more time". This person doesn't do his previous job, but what he does remains a mystery.

I also know of people who used to be individual contributors and some time in March they became managers. The pattern was similar. There was a team of let's say 12 people and one of them becomes a manager of 6 of those colleagues and their manager has now just 6 direct reports.

I also know of people quite high up in hierarchy (e.g., MDs) that suddenly got random team of direct reports.

Seems that all were tricks to save them from restructuring as they were all expensive and often useless.

Do you know of similar stories?

We had a similar situation in our LoB before layoffs. There was a manager doing his job very poorly and everyone reporting to him was quitting and complaining about him.
Eventually we were told that he has now another role(not people management), but no one knows what he does. He is still in our org reporting to the same person, but has no direct reports.
Nothing new, like in every corporation it is more about being liked by others than be good at what you do.
