whoever knows about layoffs is not sharing here in the forum. it will be miracle if they dont do any layoffs next week. as one of the other posts said, there is no way that our earnings are going to be good this quarter.

Does anyone have confirmation that there will be a layoff announcement / layoffs in the next two weeks?

Actually, Intel is an acronym for integrated electronics. So, intel is a five letter name for 2 words whereas cvs is a three letter name for three words.

That is the relationship. Final answer.

Also, Intel has 5 letters and CVS is a 3 letter name. That’s a difference of 2 letters…..coincidence???

But there are intel chips in every desktop and laptop that CVS employees use (except those with AMD chips). Think about that….coincidence???

We don’t sell intel chips at cvs

If layoff announcement has to happen, it happens on 6th or 7th morning. CVS needs to signal the impact on future earnings at that point. Else it can be assumed punted to Q4. Silent layoffs may continue. If it is announced next week, I think it is executed on 8/9/12th. And then we start new journey with Aug 13th townhall.

This place is such a mess and it all stems from leadership or the lack thereof. This team has no idea what it's doing and it shows...no trust from wall street, tanking survey results and debt as far as the eye can see.

The way layoffs were handled last year and the hints and communications by execs prior to it happening were unusual and different from historical layoffs…. I can see this a return to the old way… no public signaling or telling wall st or the broader company that yes it’s coming with some hard choices… just one day… maybe like 8/12… everything is done that day… no lingering questions of “is it all over am I safe” … next day Karen town hall and says everyone’s been notified, we had to make some hard decisions and if there are very very high level org changes … here they are. Reduces lead up anxiety which is bad for everyone and impacts those not impacted. Reduces lingering anxiety for those not impacted but questioning if they might be.

Hope they learned from last year what a bad approach they had.

Town hall was on 7/18 last year. This year it is 8/14

I wonder if they will tell us they want to be the employer of chose! Amazing this new leadership is in place. Zero chance of turning this around. They are smiling as they crush lives.

There was a Town Hall in late July last year that was very grim and hinted at upcoming layoffs. Announced to the press on 7/31/24 and an email sent on the same day. Then radio silence, like deadly silent until the week of the 14th. That’s when everyone was notified. I know this very well because I was part of it.

The managers already know whom it is. But are sworn to silence. Ours lied and said she didn’t know, but a friend and manager said that she knew in July she was losing staff and was told whom it was the week the layoffs were announced. This gave them time to plan accordingly for the loss of staff.

Getting rehired or moving to another position. Good luck! The only ones I know that did had an “in.” Like new the hiring manager. Everything I applied to came back as no longer being filled. I have been laid off before and asked to stay in another department, and chose not too. Aetna/CVS discards the RIF’d employees like yesterday’s trash.

Take care all and hopefully it’s is not as broad as last years.

we did not have townhall (company wide) during the week when the layoff was announced last year, (not even the week after), the layoff was announced simply via an email from the ceo office. There is no way that they are going to have a 2 hour all hands meeting with pre events / watch party just to announce layoff. Layoff meeting usually only lasts for 15 mins.

last time, we had an earning date at august 2 and the layoff was announced at 7/31/2023, there was no company wide townhall around that week, so if there is layoff, it will be announced 8/5 next monday, so my only advice is to enjoy your weekend this week

I am wondering if the announcement will come at the Town hall, like it did last year. If I remember correctly, last year we had a company Town hall and then an email from Karen came out that same day that indicated people would be laid off. if that’s the case the layoffs would start after August 13. But who knows 🤷‍♀️

I'm just a low level manager but I haven't heard anything about layoffs. I do know that we're on a hiring slowdown bordering on a hiring freeze, to the extent that a director in my group was forced to rescind an offer to fill an open manager level position.

Haven’t heard anything, but if history is any indication, these announcements are usually made a day or two before earnings, and we’re still almost a week out from that. I’ve definitely seen signs that something is going to go down, but what exactly what is going to happen remains to be seen.
