Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

If there are layoffs in October, would you like to be a chosen one?

I would actually love to be. I’ve been actively looking for another job since last month. I decided to cast the net much wider than banking, as I realized that the only difference between banks as a workplace in terms of toxicity and exhaustion is the color of wallpaper. Now that I figured there are many other interesting jobs, my desire to leave this awful place is just stronger.

I am curious what type of roles people are looking for and not getting answers as I get contacted quite a bit and I’m fully employed here. As far as a bad severance, I think the minimum is 12 weeks from what I’m reading that’s not so bad and then a week for every year that part I don’t remember, but I see a lot of gloom and doom on here, but I’d like to see more facts.

I got laid off 5 months ago and I still do not have a job. I look everyday and apply like crazy. I have applied for open positions with USBank and have been denied for all of them. You would think if they put you out on the street, they would try to help relocate you within the organization. No such thing exists her.

If you’re looking for fully remote jobs it is very difficult to find one with decent pay. The competition is fierce.

My severance would be horrible and only few weeks. I would have to find a job and leave on my own.

I got a years severance, but it’s going on 5 months and I have submitted around 250 applications. Still no offers, many I don’t even get a response. I have actively been doing back channeling with the companies to get connected with an actual human…..

@1vqg+1tMZ5R95 I recently quit.. I was job searching for 5 months. My advice is if you are even slightly questioning/thinking about leaving start applying now.

I guess it depends on the job then, because most of my family and friends jumped to better higher paying jobs with various companies both big and small in no more than two months this year. Some wanted to switch for better pay, others wanted to find jobs closer to home or jobs that had better schedules. If you have a good resume and are willing to shop around and use the multitude of tools available these days, the jobs are there.

Have people tried applying for work in this economy? Genuine question, not an accusation. The job market is odd. I know people out of work for over six months in non-tech jobs like customer service that can't even get hired for retail.

I am also actively seeking new opportunities. I would prefer to depart on amicable terms but if necessary, I will accept the situation and move on. This company no longer holds the values I once cherished.

I'm a bit indifferent. While the job market is lackluster, it would be easier to look outside of banking if laid off. This bank is depressing, what with the layoffs, bureaucracy, constant outages. Might as well rip the bandaid off.

I wish I was part of layoffs in February and have been actively looking since January. Grateful it didn’t happen then but I’d love to be anywhere else.
