Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Integrity doesn't matter anymore

Our store is sick of it we are constantly being micromanaged. We get heckled for selling verizon home when in fact we do a good job at it. We have always sold with integrity. Sorry, we don't use close credits to buy results. Our gm who is a hard a-s worker and knows her stuff was denied a DM spot which is bullsh-t honestly. We get a new DM and they're telling our stores to use close credits to close everything, I'm not even joking. They want us to use credits to sell vmp, home internet, home device, set up all of it. So far only two stores seem to have jumped on that wagon, because they're having 100% vmp days and all of sudden they're selling home device more.Me and my friend work at two different stores and we are sick of it. They don't know this but our store has actually been talking about unionizing because we think it's bullsh-t. We are in the mountain market. Posting here because we want to troll management and watch them try to union bust before we submit our application to the NLRB.

Sorry, that is not how this works. Once the process has started it is unstoppable. There is not a start/stop component. The rest of our careers if we continue to stay will be filled with uncertainty. Layoffs, RIF’s, furloughs, outsourcing, offshoring and will be our constant companions. Senior management will be in the same position, so they’ll spend their time covering their behinds. We are soon to be on our own. This whole thing is a finely staged stage play out of the corporate playbook. Nothing is left to chance. They’ll gut the company, while not losing the hearts and minds of the employees, until we’re no longer needed. That’s how it works.

Integrity only matters when there is someone watching.

You think Verizon went and cancelled any of those BIs or VHI employees were slamming that they fired?

He-l no.

Verizon terminated the reps but kept those lines active bc, profits > 'tegrity

The problem in our store is that we have ast mgrs that give new lines to their friends and point at other reps for everything else. Then look back down on their phones and play video games or sports bet apps all day. One day an ast mgr ran in the backroom and got his friend from break to sell out a vhi he requested. While there were 2 reps( not his video game buddy) on the sales floor. I guess I'm the only person in our location that this is happening!

Good!! It should be done. Their biggest competitor, AT&T has it for a reason.

Retail is dying my friend.

You're trying to bring life jackets on a ship that is already sinking. Just ride the ship down and make as much money as you can and find something better.

Go for it. But I think the few union stores have the same metrics you do, so not sure what the benefit would be.
