Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

California Remote

I’ve heard talk that the majority of the Southern California Remote Call teams will be displaced by the end of June or First of July. San Antonio will be picking up the collection inquiries and also doing the outbound dialing.

I am remote non hub in CA. Was told relocation strategy could take up to two years to affect me. That's the last thing I heard 6 months ago. Closest hub is roughly 100 miles away and I've been remote for almost half of my time with Wells. So, I sit and wait.

It’s pretty much the end of June now so if it’s true, it’s filing this week. As others have said, just take the severance. Once I stopped trying to predict and just “let it happen” and stopped giving two f*cks about a process that I cannot control, my outlook has been better .

Even remote executives in Cali are being "retired to spend time with their family" OP, regular workers have zero chance. Take the severance and move on to a better employer.

I think they are giving lots of advance notice in order to avoid the bad press of people being laid off unexpectedly.

That's how they started with me, told me I was impacted by location 3-4 months ago and I got the letter this week. Charlie is revving the chainsaw hard!

Can't figure out the strategy behind first laying off CA workers that are in offices, while remote CA workers are still around.

It makes it seem like these Waves are b.s. Wave 1, Wave 2...does it matter? There is only one Wave growing for about 5 years now.

There should be better details at least of the thinking behind things, rather than what feels like a random dart thrown on the board.

I’m with a team in California but my “leadership” is elsewhere. Completely agree with the layoff concept. I can now take a three month paid vacation at the beach. Started to float my resume in LA. Tons of jobs with Wells competition. The Bay Area is pretty hot for jobs also. Better pay too. Hoping Gavin Gruesome is going to punish Wells like every other company in California.

I would interpret the script to mean you will be getting laid off.

If you're remote in a non hub area, you're toast. If you're remote in a hub area, prepare to lose the remote.

I'm remote in California, not on a call team but my manager read a script to me this week that I would possibly be affected by location strategy in the 3rd quarter. I don't quite understand being told beforehand if they are getting rid of me.

Hoping it's a layoff since I'd enjoy the paid vacation. I'm worried the job market doesn't turn around fast enough to outlast the severance I would receive.
