Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Just moved to Dallas. The “Discovery District” is a sh!+h0le

Yeah, I moved to Dallas for the RTO thing. But it was also just a chance to make a better situation for myself, and I wasn’t leaving any family behind or anything, and I don’t regret it - yet.
Anyway, after a couple of weeks at HQ, I am honestly surprised at how filthy the area is. There are homeless people literally laying on the grounds outside the building, and beware walking anywhere for lunch. There is security everywhere on campus, so the homeless people pander just across the street. It smells awful, and it’s hot and humid so the stench kind of seeps into your clothes. If you decide to stay in the building to eat, you’ll pay too much for just meh food, and then you won’t be able to find anywhere to eat it. But the culture is to eat at your desk anyway, so no big deal. Also the roads in downtown Dallas are awful. Pot holes, constant construction, and even the building has some kind of repairs going on.
The pictures make HQ look beautiful, but in real life, it’s nasty.
I mean, of course I get to leave the area and go home every day. I just wanted to paint a realistic picture for anyone considering making the move.
Cheers

“ The homeless you are seeing are the employees that followed their work and were let go after a few months.”

Everyone catch that? The homeless in Dallas are former Att employees. Hub employees.

Wow, I had no idea about Dallas as I was there many years ago and was pretty nice at least I thought it was.

It’s the same way in Atlanta at Midtown and Lenox. Just nasty, overcrowded and everything is overpriced. All of that over the top of the obvious demographics issue.

This morning, police (I think) carried off a homeless man eating a dog (I think) near the building. Face and hands were full of blood. Get in early and you can see the indigenous population having breakfast it seems. Couldn’t see past the beard but maybe it was Stankey satisfying his vampire habit.

Op is right on, downtown Dallas is a mess. Homeless population like most large cities is out of control. Believe it or not downtown has actually gotten better, there used to be no reason to go downtown during the evening. Now there are restaurants and bars but it just has an overall feeling. If you work in hq the only advantage is they actually do spend money and seems like it’s renovated occasionally unlike all other T properties. I’ve worked in a Dallas suburb t building that is filthy has minimal cleaning staff, has been exactly the same for 25 years same chairs that were once purple but have morphed into a nice dusty brown. The only renovation was when they ripped out the cafeteria.

You have been there two weeks and you can already claim the roads are undergoing constant construction?

Well, the Dallas Headquarters bldg was previously a homeless center. That’s why so many homeless people are still around bldg. They don’t have anywhere else to go.

Hey. Let’s get something clear. We are a media company and CNN is our crown jewel! Thanks to RJS $100 billion in shareholder value was thrown into the SBC dumpster fire in Dallas.

The Stankey wankey.. born out of sl--e ball Randall… they made the pi-s poor decisions to be a “media” company… failed.. bought cable when everything was going to streaming.. and balance the failing checkbook with layoffs of the workers while the execs take care of their own.. and get recycled .
Pathetic.

Honestly the AT&T District itself is not bad, but it is true that the homeless situation in downtown Dallas is out of control.

“Interesting I drive downtown and work in the office every day of the week and I don’t see things nearly like that. I guess it’s a matter of what you want to see.”

Look, Mr. Stankey. I know you don’t see the condition of your trashy kingdom when you have your own separate entrance and have your handlers clear the way for you wherever you go, but believe me, it’s bad.
A matter of what you want to see, indeed, and you have on rose-colored glasses

Every building is bad in every city. Poor maintenance and lack of space across the country can’t be explained as one bad building manager or one bad city.

And to remember when it was a quarter billion dollar investment to highlight the T dominion over the IP briefly acquired from TW. Foolishness such as the Friends couch replica on the concourse level abounded. Now the Times Square dimensioned screen sits fallow.

Every Att is disgusting and should be condemned. My work location has asbestos, mold that they just paint over. Air quality is horrible. Rat traps everywhere. Homeless outside as well. Dirty restrooms.

I was in Dallas for a company thing last year. Did you walk down the ur--e street? Catches you by surprise. You’d think the sidewalk was made of the wood floor of a cat barn. Burns your eyes and throat when you walk into it like you were maced. Great tip: ask Uber drivers about the cartels. They know all the juicy stories. Some wealthy family was wiped out by some Mexican ghost cartel faction apparently.

Dallas is a neat downtown area but holy sh1t it’s not for the weak. If Stankey stays off the streets, you should too
