Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Aetna Town Hall, June 18

Any idea if they will discuss Aetna layoffs in today’s Town Hall?

Definitely a toxic work environment. They do favor the younger workers and will make your life extremely stressful and miserable until you get sick or quit. Seems to be the norm at Aetna.

Below poster: Agree 100%!

I was let go last August and it hurt, really hurt. The job market is extremely difficult and most have not been able to find employment that is the equivalent of what they were doing at Aetna. I believe I was let go due to age, which of course is discrimination. Naturally they put performance related, which was news to me, since I had had great reviews and no notification of said performance issues.

I found something relatively quickly so I could pocket my severance money and pay some things off, which I did. I have since found another position that more aligns with my interest/skill set. The one thing they do not like to talk about is the grieving that you go through. Yes, the extra funds were great! But, it came at a loss: loss of security, friends/colleagues, job familiarity, position/seniority, and loss of annual income.

Where am I going with this? It is much easier to leave of your own fruition. Aetna is not the same with CVS and vice versa. Which can only lead you to the fact that the leadership su-ks and is absolutely incompetent. Take care all, prayers.

This whole Work One initiative (forcing anyone within 25 miles of two of the largest offices in three days a week) will drive people to quit and find another job. This allows them to "right size" the company without another layoff. Surveys by a number of reputable sources show 41% of WFH employees will find another job rather than go into an office. My thought is if they don't get the headcount down enough with this, they will force 5 days a week within a 50 mile radius.

This is an utterly stupid initiative. I would have more trust in the company if they just did another layoff. By going this route with forcing hybrid work, the risk of losing the best talent is higher. If they did another layoff, they could bring head count down without losing the very people we actually need to try to keep going. Worse, to label this as an attempt to promote collaboration and culture is just ridiculous. You're going to have over 1000 people in Hartford milling around all pi**ed off, spending their time complaining to each other and looking for another gig - how is this a way to improve culture?? As for collaboration, so many teams were hired as remote with their closest colleague 1.000 miles away and not even having to report to their closest office. I am going to be in Hartford ALL BY MYSELF, collaborating with NO ONE!!!!!

I used to love working for Aetna. Since CVS took over, it has been a complete s**t show, morale keeps tanking and tanking. I'm actively looking at this point, but secretly hoping they do another round of layoffs and offer me severance. I need a break to recover from this chaos.

"Although AI call centers may be down the road they carry a lot of potential liability risk.."

Bad news they will the Risk is Very High but they will choose to go this way with the Risks! McDonald's just set the standard to go full automation food food to follow.

CVS will start and everyone else will fall in line.

Although AI call centers may be down the road they carry a lot of potential liability risk once you get past the trivial operations that are easily handled by existing systems. Have you seen any of those AI generated images purporting to show someone famous, but the hands have 6 fingers and similar defects? Would you trust this to provide medical advice? It's presently a dog and pony show that puts a facade on existing capability that they label as AI. There will be a need for SMEs to field second or third tier support into the future.

When your travel/meetings are on hold and the manager is still traveling to corporate, layoffs are coming. Sorry, but its just historically the way it goes.

Just remember BK said in the town hall. Saving a penny is still something for the company. Expect he going to chop some head. Maybe them popcorn at the HQ should stop and then instrument. No one care about 100 yr old piano

My boss said the company is going through hard times and they don’t want to do a big layoff again… so that means that they will and I have noticed my boss traveling more than usual for business.

My first thought while watching it was he sounds good but this is the guy that would jump in the lifeboat first if the ship was going down.

Sadly all these "town halls" are carefully scripted, to make everything look all rosy and good. Besides hiding the truth is what CVS does best.

Karen Ly--h, the CVS chief executive, received a $21.6 million compensation package in 2023 — a 1.4% increase over the prior year. The figure included a $1.5 million salary, stock awards and options of $16.2 million, and incentive pay of nearly $3 million

Remember the town hall a few months ago where the planted question asked Karen about her experience serving food to the needy in Washington DC?

Yeah, there will be no mention of layoffs.

Interesting today Caremark has their Town Hall. So a Caremark one and an Aetna one the same day.

Different stories for different groups?

I doubt they will say lay off

They may not actually say the word “layoff” at Town Halls, but they are definitely not afraid to insinuate it!

You're kidding, right? The handpicked questions (at the end) never seem to contain any hard hitting subject matters like "layoffs".
