Where is the idea there will be massive terminations coming from? Yes, whoever doesn't comply will get axed, but I have a hard time believing most people wouldn't show up when their job is on the line.

I WFH and live within25 miles of Hartford office but we are relocating to different state from CT. My manager asked to to show up 3 days a week next week onwards until i move out of CT.
The calculus absolutely assumes some % of employees will quit. In fact cvs prefers people to quit so they don't pay unemployment or severance.
I don't plan on going in 3 days per week. I hear they are tracking to 60% of that so I will only go in 2 days per week. If I get called out, I will retire.
https://www.thelayoff.com/post/@gmh+1t1eozxv because apparently a lot of people assume everyone that works from home is lazy, sc--wing around and having fun, while I was sitting here busting my a-s everyday, for what? only to get laid off. while some of the people that still have a job are the ones that are "chilling" on the job.
Do all WAH employees who live within 25 mile of any CVS office throughout the US have to go in or just RI and connecticut offices as listed in the ‘what has changed’ link .
Also is it 25 miles ‘as the crow flies’ distance for 25 mile google map route distance?
There are actually quite a few workers who live well within 25 miles who never did more than 1 day a week as they bumped up the days.
I know this because I was on a team in which the executive director said “don’t worry just do 1 day”
We moved off that team and new executive director forced us to do 3 BUT the old director and every team under them eventually just stopped coming in all together.
That was approx. 150 people that went fully remote. They went fully remote in May of this year. They are now being clawed back or face discipline.
Yes a ton are looking elsewhere since if they have to be in office they might as well be paid more. A few only stayed BECAUSE the 1 day/fully remote and could get paid more working 3 days in office at BCBS
In management terms they are getting the low hanging fruit
Some will get cut but the value is in some of the older and higher paid jobs. Some of these people often are in a position to retire and might say “not worth it “ and retire
Think of long term managers and directors. They are well paid and can have a big dollar impact. Plus that open the door to do away with job or promotion for younger staff
I'm betting that corporate is actually hoping people don't comply. This way they can just terminate people instead of layoffs.
Why would they spend personal time driving to a dilapidated old office to sit in a gray cubicle all day when they’ve been more productive while working from home? Absolutely not. Go to a real company that actually appreciates employees work.
I know WAH employee that work near HQ have to go in
