S/4 success

Any bets on how long it takes to achieve its purpose.

Never. By the time the rollout finishes it’ll be time to start the next upgrade. Meanwhile, no improvements to business functionality, same pile of stuff that doesn’t work, and in the meantime we’ll replace the integration layer 2-3 times. Always busy, but never doing anything of value. A never ending cycle of replacing tools and moving backwards in business functionality every time. Focus needs to be totally flipped on it’s head - the ONLY reason to upgrade or change a tool is to add or improve business functionality. New tools is fine, but not just to slam them in.

I remember sitting in an SAP kickoff nearly a decade ago…all these years later and I don’t know how it’s possible this implementation has gotten off the rails so bad…GC wasn’t a great implementation and now NA is a sh*tshow so let’s see if all goes well next month.

What’s even more amazing is that that all the leaders in charge of this transformation including the cfo who is the ELT sponsor are not being held accountable for this not going so well. I can’t believe we’re a 50B company - we trip over ourselves all the time it would be funny if it wasn’t so sad

How long has the SAP train been running? Is like like since 1994? In all that time, what Customer Facing process improvements have been made? Are we able to deliver footwear, apparel & equipment on the same pallet (endcap)? Can we do Prepacks? Is our inventory right? Can we ship & bill accurately? Can we do omnichannel shipping? Shipped to a carrier hub, going to a DC, marked for a Store, and for an End Consumer? PLEASE!!!!! Listen to your Customers… before they all go elsewhere.

What’s it’s purpose? All I see is to swap one tool for another. No business functionality is being added or improved, so same as the 2010 upgrade, and same as in 2000. Just moving backwards in functionality to slam in a new tool. How about we judge it’s success based on business functionality added, or broken stuff getting fixed, or how much easier it is for our Customers to do business with us? We’re lost if thinking new tools move things forward - everything should be about moving forward and getting better. The Accenture based MVP approach is ki-ling making anything better. Sc--w the new tools, fix whats broken now, be easy to do business with, be able to do things accurately and on time in the OTC processes. Just get better … new tools ain’t making things better. Listen. Listen to your Customers. Deliver what they want, don’t be arrogant and think you know what they need.

2 years of scrambling to keep it from falling over "hypercare" then another 2 years to get to the same functionality we had prior, then another 9 years after that to show progress.

Assumedly, whatever happens will allow Accenture to make more $ at crazy rates.
