Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Is it really ethical to take disciplinary action for not complying with RTO policy without giving a warning?

They haven’t mentioned anything about disciplinary action in last year’s RTO email. I genuinely think this is just a BIG WARNING to bring everyone back to office or to terminate those who don’t follow the policy from now on

I live within 25 miles of CT office. We are relocating to other state end of next week. I was notified by my manager yesterday I need to be in office next week Tues, Wed and Thursday which doesn’t make sense.

they should have enforced those that are supposed to be working in the office instead of penalizing the WAH folks.

What are they going to do with all the executives that moved all over the country during the pandemic? Are they flying to the corporate office 3 days a week in their corporate jets? Is that really cost saving?

I really find it funny that there are those that think CVS cannot GPS your address in relation to an onsite office that you could report to.... Come on, really?

You THINK this is a warning? It is a blatant warning and they are saying they will terminate those that don’t comply. They didn’t mince words so it’s not a gray area. Either comply or face termination. Not saying if this is good or bad but many companies are doing it and they can legally do it.

The policy has been that hybrid employees be in the office 3x a week for a year now. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that they’d eventually begin enforcing the policy. Tracking starts 7/1, which is 3 weeks after the notice that enforcement would be starting. Not sure what more in terms of a warning you were expecting.

Remote/WFH colleagues who live within 25 miles of the office and will now be required to come in is a different story. I feel for those folks.
